A very good value property, well located with staff who were pleasant and helpful. Great value and close to public transport. Quiet at night and very clean facilities. I would return to this property in future.

Top Local Tips for Madrid

Trains Give yourselves plenty of time when using the main train station in Madrid eg; side trips to Toledo. The lines are very long and very slow moving. It took us over 90 minutes to purchase our train tickets

the best snack in town los 100 montaditos: it'a a small spot where you can eat cheap (1,20 € each) and delicious sandwiches. There's a variety of over 100 different tastes. It's in Calle Mayor, in front of La Real Casa de La Panaderia. no wonder it's always crowded!!

getting there from airport For VERY CHEAP, you can get to the hotel from the airport by taking the metro. From the airport walk to terminal C (or D, I forget) which is a pretty long walk, but then you can buy a subway ticket (or even a 10-trip ticket for about 8 euro) and take the metro line (pink) to Columbia. Get on the purple line to Principe de Vergara, then finish on the red line (towards Cuatro Caminos) and get off at Sevilla. It took about 25 minutes total and was dirt cheap. We took a taxi back to the hotel (because my wife was worried about having enough room if the cars were really crowded due to early morning commuters) and it was 25 euro (plus any tip) and traffic was horrible! So if we could do it again we'd take the metro both ways. When you get back to street level at Sevilla, go to the right towards the Banco de Credito and head south on Calle Sevilla. Take that down to Calle Jeronimo and the Astoria Hostal is just a short distance to the left (east). About a 5 minute walk, tops.
