Shamed by the English

My wife, myself and our 2 children aged 10 and 3 have just returned from a weeks stay in the Royal Beach. The hotel is very nice though only a 3 star, the food is usual stuff for spainish hotel, the staff were brilliant, the hotel very clean. Its just a shame that the English had to stay there. I was totally ashamed by the English behaviour. Half the guests were parents who decided to sit by the pool all day and night drinking, swearing and smoking while their kids ran riot all over the hotel until the early hours. The other half annoying immature singles who found it ideal to drink themseleves stupid and then spend until the early hours being sick and totally ignoring the fact that everyone else was trying to sleep. We spent the first night overlooking the street and it was hell, the lad in the room above was sick over our balcony at least 7 times during the early hours, the pub over the road called Robin Hood was churning out drunk kids all night who were then singing, throwing up, collapsing, it was pure hell. We then moved to the Pool side and it was far better, a different holiday in fact. Look after Antonio on reception and he will look after you, also the maid was great. Wouldnt go back. It was a cheap holiday but unfortunately it was like Butlins in the sun.

I just come back off holiday from lloret de mar and i have to say it was the time of my life. The hotel was basic but clean, the staff were polite. The food was medicore because there was not much choice. the swimming pool is not heated so it was like diving into the artic. The nightlife is immense with several nationalities all on show. bars and pubs i suggest are Texas,Loco nad the queen Vic. the special one was the Robin hood across the way from the hotel. I have a lot of memories of that place that i will never forget. The price of the holiday was cheap at just £199. Well worth the price and the time.

This was a cheap holiday only £650 for 3 of us, so we were not expecting The Ritz. This hotel in our opinion is not worthy of a 4**** rating. The only parts of the hotel which are pleasant are the rooms (but of course the beds are rubbish) the Jacuzzi's on the roof and the swimming pools. Please let us know if anyone has found a Spanish hotel that actually have beds that do not cripple you. If you want a relaxing holiday then do not stay here. There were lots of children and it was not half term. We have a 4 year old ourselves but found the play area unsafe, he fell from the slide onto concrete covered with bald astro turf. Luckily he was not seriously injured. The other outdoor toys needed repair. If you want to smoke yourself to death, drink yourself stupid, let your kids run riot, watch rubbish entertainment and sing karaoke then this is the place for you. There is not anywhere to relax other than outside if you do not smoke. We do not subject our child to cigarette smoke so all our evenings were spent away from the Hotel. As previously stated by another holiday reviewer the food is edible, but is mainly processed items like nuggets, burgers, chips etc. There were no fresh vegetables only salad items. No fruit at breakfast. The queues for drinks were riduculous and unnecessary, I can imagine it would be even worse in peak season. The bar staff were a bit miserable but we fould all the other staff very friendly. I was ashamed at some points of our holiday to be British due to some so called 'parents' having total disrespect by swearing around and at their children. Most of the children were unsupervised all night and had no respect for the hotels property by running across rows of sunbeds up until 12am. The staff did shout at them, but as soon as they had gone, they were staight back up to no good. Where were the parents? No where to be seen, probably drunk somewhere. We are not snobs we are a normal working class family, who swear where appropriate, drink and did smoke, but never around children. This Hotel is an awful place full of awful people and I would not want to go back to another place like it for as long as I live. You have been warned!!!

The hotel is well good there are loads of things to do and there are loads of girls there and it is well lively and chilled. All the staff is brilliant and the maids are cool. It's kept proper clean and tidy. There are some half decent clubs in the area and some English bars round the corner would recommend it to everyone. The bad thing is to get to Lloret town, it’s quite a long walk but there is a shortcut over the cliff top it’s a beautiful site.

We must say we went with 4 adults and 5 children under 5 and it was great. Very friendly! We were told there would be alot of french people there and there was, but it didn't matter they were friendly. The hotel is clean and tidy, the food was great and the use of the sister hotels came in handy for the indoor pools. All i can say is we loved it and are planning another stay. I would say though we took a visit to the casino hotel which is one of the oldest and is not very child friendly, so keep away if you got kids. The royal star is bigger than the beach but just as good and if your looking for a quite hotel the amarika in caella is great harldy any kids and very tidy.

Top Local Tips for Lloret de Mar

ACCESSIBLE Even though most of the clubs were closed (out of season) you can easily get to them by walking and taxis are relatively cheap(there are no night buses). I would like to go back.

GETTING AROUND The buses and trains are cheap and reliable. I would recommend a bus to and from the airport if you want to cut costs. We booked a transfer to and from the airport via the website we booked the holiday with and we got ripped off. We also had to wait over an hour at the airport on arrival before we could go as the coach was waiting for flights from Liverpool and Glasgow to arrive! I would say the buses are the best way to get around the Costa Blanca generally. Their public transport puts ours to shame!

There is nothing else to see here Do not come to Lloret de Mar if you want to leave having a good experience.
