Appalling central booking for Riu Hotels

If you book into any of the RIU HOTEL GROUP be warned by our experience. Our group of 4 couples booked into the Riu Atlantico 6 months in advance, but with just a few days to go before we flew out we were told that they had double booked our rooms and they had moved us to another hotel. We wanted to stay at the Atlantico as some of our travelling friends had stayed there before and had said it was a good hotel. It may be run well locally, but they do not deal with bookings, which is dealt with centrally and handled appallingly. This is not an isolated incident as we have found out it has happened to other friends of ours in a similar way. Their central bookings are dishonourable and unriable and I avise you to take heed of our experience and avoid booking into RIU HOTELS if you do not want to risk our experience.

Top Local Tips for Isla de Canela
Two countries The lying of the place Isla Canela and/or Ayamonte offers you the ability to discover Spain ánd Portugal. When you want to discover both lands, it's helpfull to have a car. In Portugal we went to Casto Marim (an old castel), Faro, Monte Gordo, etc. In Spain we discovered Niebla (small place surrounded by the old town walls), Palos de la Frontera (the place Columbus started his journey), Sevilla (which was extremely nice), Ayamonte (small streets, litle shops, bit more touristic than Isla Canela), etc.
Shopping - or lack of it! This is not the place to shop till you drop. We struggled to find gifts to bring back for family & friends
Damas bus service ask for a bus timetable at the front desk. There are local buses to get from outside the hotel to take you to Ayamonte and to other places from there.
