Excellent hotel on the beach

We were a family of 2 grandparents, 2 grandchildren and their parents so ages from 18 months to 61 years. We could not fault anything. The food was amazing and something to please everyone in our party, even the baby. The entertainment, although mainly in Italian, was excellent and my 9 year old granddaughter danced every night with the team who worked fantastically to include her and spoke to her in English. We all enjoyed the entertainment. We found the drinks, coffees, ice cream fairly expensive in the hotel but that should be expected in a 4 star hotel and that is the only reason you did not score a 10!

During the booking process no mention was made of the hotel's accent on Italian guests and it was extremely upsetting that entertainment during the first week was exclusively for Italians. Our second week was highlighted by little or no entertainment with the exception of the 'Pianoman' who catered for a multilingual audience very happily.
The food was terrible! Scrambled egg that had the consistency of rubber, roast potatoes that were hard skinned and partially cooked on the inside. Soup was the only saving factor and I was not alone in supplementing my meals from the many cafes and bars close to the hotel - who have said that our feelings were very common amongst English speaking guests.
No tea facilities were provided, and charges were made for almost everything else - even allowing that deposits were returnable. No after-dinner coffee or tea was provided at table and water was chargeable. The good side was that the staff were apologetic and as helpful as possible. Swimming pools were excellent and the closeness to the beach first class.
All in all, I would not go back to Tres Carabelas even were it free!

Although the hotel was excellent, it is predominantly Italian with no English spoken entertainment at all! The facilities are that of a 4 star hotel however with 3 children (who don't speak Italian) and the entertainment being solely spoke in Italian we spent most of our evenings away from the hotel or playing cards in our rooms. The staff in the hotel were probably the best i've ever encountered which i think is important to mention. We enjoyed our holiday but we did find the lack of English spoken entertainment a problem when trying to amuse 3 children!
