Top Local Tips for Granada

The Alhambra audio tour and some great Tapas First the good - don't miss the Bodega Castaneda - not the Antica, but the new one (which isn't that new) - for tapas. Amazing tapas, great wine and beer, and clearly the town favorite place to drink Vermouth. They do allow smoking, unfortunately, but so does virtually every other place in Granada (the smoking ban in Andalusia seems to only apply to pastry shops and ice cream parlors, so if you are particularly sensitive to smoke, perhaps wait until Spain really cracks down). Now, the Alhambra audio tour - absolutely terrible. Very unsubstantive, mostly snippets of poetry inspired by the Alhambra. If you'd like to learn about the place, I'd recommend buying a guidebook rather than the audio tour.

Buses It took 1 and three quarter hours by bus from Malaga and cost 9 euros. By train it would have been about six hours and cost 12 plus euros with a change at Bobadilla which is very quiet and out of the way. A good example of why it is particularly important to consider buses in Spain.

cost from airport it cost us 25 euros from the airport but there is a bus which we got back for 3 euros each. it stops near all the main hotels and takes 40 mins
