Top Local Tips for Granada

Book your Alhambra tickets well before you arrive Access to the Alhambra is strictly limited. You should book tickets as soon as you have confirmed your other travel plans. The website is easy to navigate and will allow you to reserve tickets for collection on the day. I needed additional tickets to those I had prebooked which necessitated that I queue for an hour to buy at the automated machines. Tickets are available from 0830 and the queues by that time are already serveral hundred strong. Be prepared to wait in line!

Granada's Moorish Influence More than any other city we visited in southern Spain, the Moorish influence is still especially strong in Granada. While you're there, don't forget to visit a tea shop and have some Moroccan green tea! There are also a lot of great shops selling Morroccan rugs, etc. You should also check out los banos de granada, off of Plaza Nueva - authentic Moorish baths! Go in there for a soak and unwind - far better than American-style spa treatments, the Moors knew how to relax the soul. Speaking of plaza nueva, you can get some killer doner (lamb) kebobs there, too!

getting to the Parador it is much easier to stay in the town and get the bus up to the alhambra than to try and get up there by car
