Albaicin I'd stay here next time for atmosphere and character. Also the streets down from here to Calle Elvira have some good tea shops and bars. Tapas is such a good idea with alcohol, wish we had the same tradition in the UK.

Alhambra Book your ticket for the Alhambra before you get to Granada. I had the chance when I visited the website, but I decided I didnt know exactly when I wanted to visit, so I didnt bother pre-booking. I read that you could book it in the city itself but the tourist office told me to buy the ticket at the Alhambra. I walked up the hill to the Alhambra, it then took me another 20 mins to find the ticket office (I did have a guide book & a map so i wasn't ill informed, its just confusing & badly signposted). When I got to the ticket office at 2pm (just in time for the afternoon session so I thought) I was told it was sold out. I was also told it was sold out for the next 2 weeks & the only way of getting a ticket was to be there at 7.30am the next morning. I didnt bother as thats way 2 early for me, I just made do with looking around the grounds. However I was disappointed, I have wanted to see the Alhambra for 14 years. I couldnt believe the ludicous ticket system. It doesn't seem reasonable.
