Top Local Tips for Gran Canaria

The tourist Bus This is a great trip on a "Guas Guas" (Canarian for bus !), takes about 90 minutes & get off and on whever you are and join the next bus.

very good bus service for getting around the island Extremely windy and not particularly hot at Christmas, but better than 'nearer' Europe, i.e. Majorca

Variable weather Weather was very variable although always pleasant. One day the temperature was 41 degrees but others only 25 and overcast. Once the sun has gone down it can seem pretty chilly (even though it is still about 23) and there is always a wind so do take some sort of wrap or jacket for the evening. All the outdoor restaurants/cafes along Las Canteras beach look attractive but are very exposed to the wind - and this was August!
