Top Local Tips for Grajera
Hold your ground! Taxis are expensive so try to find others to share the cost if you can, particularly to and from the airport. Don't be pushed around by the taxi drivers and stand firm if you think you are being overcharged. There are buses but they are infrequent, although in the summer there are now buses which do the rounds of the beaches which is useful if you're not hiring a car. Make sure someone explains the bus routes and times for you so you don't waste hours at the bus stops. Ask the owners of restaurants and bars if they will call taxis for you, particularly late at night, as you could wander about for ages looking otherwise!
september thunderstorms When you see a dark cloud in sardinia, take heed. It might not just be gentle rain, or even a decent downpour, it could be a torrential flooding. This happened to us on our first day in Alghero. We were stuck on the little train and got absolutely soaked through, and the road was ankle deep in brown muddy water , running like a river. It was quite scary, and only local as when we arrived back to the harbour no one else was wet. Be aware, as you couldnt even walk in this without wellies. no wonder all the guys were selling large umbrellas along the lido and in town, and a lot of knowing people were carrying them too.
