We arrived at Girona Airport to find that the hotel we had booked on the internet was actually on the French border! The tourist office at Girona were very helpful and actually called an booked a room for us. The family were very helpful and welcoming. A little gem - maybe not the fanciest hotel but everything you need with a service you just don't get in large anonymous hotels. Have already made another booking for August.
Worth every cent

My wife and I went to Girona in 2007, but for the life of us we could not remember the name of the hotel we stayed in, the "europa" sounded familiar, so decided to book online for us and my wife's friend.
This turned out not to be the one we had stayed in previously, but was a fantatstic error on our part. The hotel is very clean, comfortable and very warm, {girona can be quite cold in december} and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. All at an extremely reasonable price. The rooms were more than adequate for our stay plus the continental breakfast was great. it's also just a couple of minutes walk from the bus and train station, and just a 10 minute stroll from the old town. We won't be making the mistake of picking the wrong hotel next time. I have kept all of the emails we sent plus their prompt replies. and would recommend the "EUROPA" to anyone looking for an economical few days break.

Was a little unsure when we booked this hotel as it was only a two star. How wrong I was, this hotel was the friendliest I think I have ever stayed in. Beds made every day, fresh towels, immacualate. Right in the centre of the town. 5 minutes walk to the train and bus station. Could not have asked for anything better.

Having arrived in Girona on a budget flight to attend to some business I was perplexed as to where I would spend the night. To my surprise I was greeted by a Spanish pensioner who, although could not speak English, realised my plight and quickly directed me to the Europa. Once there I was greeted with a very friendly welcome and enjoyed my night in a basic - but very comfortable room. My only regret is that I did not accept the offer of breakfast which looked escellent. I promised the owner that I would return and I am now keeping that promise. My many thanks to the owner, his daughter and my general welcome within Girona. Would recommend and going back in three weeks time and taking my wife with me - what better recommendation!!
Just what we wanted

We found the hotel met all of our needs.
It was comfortable the family (owners) were very friendly and the rate was great. Our room was to the back of the building and we had a fantastic sleep. Location was wonderful close to bus station and walking distance to all Girona's sites and shopping.
Plenty of restaurants nearby. Hotel does a really good breakfast. Will certainly use the hotel again.

The family run hotel was perfect for a short break. The staff were very helpful; right from my partners dodgy email in Spanish to book the room to finding the local shops and bars. They also called a taxi for us the afternoon after we checked out. Basic but excellent value for money. About a 10/15 minute walk to the old town.

A friend and myself jumped on a plane at the last minute and wondered round Girona looking for a hotel. A friendly local directed us to Hotel Europa. We were surprised to find that EVERYTHING in Girona was closed (apart from restrants) and so we had no Euros. The man at reception surprised us by letting us have the room and saying we could pay the following morning. The biggest surprise was to follow when he gave us 50euros and told us to eat and pay him back tomorrow. we were totally shocked as this never happens in the UK and were expecting to be dragged out of bed in the middle of the night by the owner. It turns out the owner was the mans son and he was fine about everything. The hotel was very very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was to die for and never ending. I recommend this to any and everyone for being the friendliest hotel i have ever been in anywhere in the world. Needless to say i will be returning (with the correct currency this time.
