This Hotel is fantastic we stayed there in February for one week and had a great time, the food and our room was brilliant no one could complain about anything at this Hotel.
The staff are fanastic and very friendly.

Why all the hype?

Just back from the Yaramar but thought I had entered a Geriatric Convention - for the first time in my life I felt my age (74) - still there were no screaming kids. Food good selection but not well cooked and often cold. Three types of bread - hard, rock hard and dry and rock hard. Better food in four 4 star hotels in the Canaries. Waitering the best at any hotel anywhere and we've been around. Staff at bar very friendly. The best hotel anywhere for sunbathing - each two sunbeds has a parasol and all positions around pool equally acceptible, therefore, no need to get up at 8 o'clock in the morning to put towels out! That was great. Entertainment rather poor - mainly by talented reps. Shows in the Discoteque which lets the hotel down rather badly - needs refurbishing - rather like a dungeon. Have Happy Hour each night at 8.00pm - care not to be knocked down by the stick and Zimmer frame wielding elderly who wait at the starting line for the gun! Would probably go back if we went to Fuengirola

just returned from a fantastic at the hotel yaramar
everyone were very helpful, rooms and surrounding areas are very well mantained
pool area very clean plenty of sunbeds although some people still put towels down
really early.
We stayed there with two friends had such a great time we are already talking about going again,
If you go you must go to Mijas such a pretty village cost on local bus is very cheap
taxi's are also very reasonable.
Also a visit too the market is worth while.

Yaramar a good choice

We enjoyed a long week-end at the yaramar mid oct, it's the first time we've tried a week-end abroad, and thought we'd play safe, and go thomson gold. Not cheap but good quality. Enjoyed the hotel, especially the pool area, make sure you try the strawberry shakes, made with three scoops of ice creram (mmm lovely),food very nice with lots of choices. Tried the free Ala carte but was a little dissapointed, menu sounded nice, but food a little bland.Hotel clean and staff helpfull. For a special night try La Lagosta restaurant on the road behind the hotel, 95euro's for 3 courses with wine, worth every cent.Dont miss the chefs paella demonstration by the pool, every ingrediant under the sun, 4 euro's a portion including a glass of sangria.Hotel taken over on sunday while we were there by "el fandi" the bullfighter, Spains equivalent of David Beckham.

My husband and I stayed 1 week in early May as a last minute treat for our 30th wedding aniversary. Couldn't have made a better choice. Food and service excellent, staff extremely friendly. It was our first visit but certainly won't be our last! A memorable Aniversary and a 1st class hotel.

The rooms and public areas were spotless and well appointed. Nice pool area. There is also a gym and small games room and internet access (I think) which we only discovred 10 mins before leaving. We (late 30's) were the youngest by at least a decade which was great as it is not often I get to feel young!

We didn't see much of the entertainment but it seemed par for the course though the Flamenco dancers one night were excellent. There is a daily pool side quiz which I mention as we won it once and were rewarded with a bottle of sparkling wine!

Food was good (not exiting) and plenty of it. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and quite picky and she was more than happy with what was on offer.

The lifts were spectacular giving a great view of the bar area.

A great hotel fo a quiet break. We rented a car and went to Gibralter and Ronda which is stunning. We arrived just as all the coaches were leaving so it was pretty empty. The views are breathtaking.

What can I say?
Perhaps if I pose qustions. Do you want:
A brilliant place to stay / 1st. class service / a friendly atmosphere / reps to look after you for which nothing is too much trouble / top quality entertainment / a wide choice menu / a balcony with sea view / a lively resort without being noisey or obtrusive / a walk-'till-you-drop beach front on the doorstep / a private unseen pool from passers-by / a beautiful harbour / the biggest market in the area (Tuesdays) / a mountain village 5 km away (Mijas - you must visit if only for the views) / close to Malaga, Marbella, Estepona, Puerto Banus, Gibralter etc.
If so, look no further than the Hotel Yaramar. We take our 5th. visit there in October 2005 and I feel that I will be visiting friends rather than Hotel staff. Despite our familiarity with the Hotel and area, we discover something new every time we visit.
Give it a try - no risk attached.

Stayed at the Yaramar for 10 days and had a perfect and enjoyable stay.Everybody was friendly and helpful,entertainment was excellent and very well put together. Would recommend this hotel to anyone,one of the best Gold Hotels,have stayed at a few!

absolute top class from the thompson reps to bar staff, waiters and cleaners no faults at all.
Stayed a week wish it was two.
My partner hasnt been abroad on hols in nearly 20 years due to a previous experience in greece we stayed here and she instantly felt at ease.
the lifts are also an experience as well as the pianoist.
Will stay again.

Nice hotel

This was the first time in a Thomson Gold hotel and we really enjoyed it. We enjoyed the whole package of the activities there if you want them, if not, there's no pressure to join in and having good entertainment in the hotel at night is a bonus if you don't want to go from bar to bar. The hotel is quite new so very modern. We were on a high floor, so didn't experience the noise from the piano that other reviewers complained about. I would be interested to hear reviews of other Thomson Gold hotels.

Great hotel

My wife and I stayed for just four nights before christmas 2004. The hotel was superb we could not fault the service or accomadation. The only slight fault, it is advertised with an outdoor heated pool it could certainly have been a few degrees warmer. Food choice and quality were great.
My only concern at that time of year it really caters for the older generation, but this did not spoil our holiday in fact most of them danced the night away well past our bedtime.
All in all a great winter break. Would certainly go back, would be great in the summer.
If you get the choice choose pool view room, we had one on the 4th floor with sea view, fantastic room and view but just a little noisy for the traffic.

Top Local Tips for Fuengirola

Visit to Gibraltar The coach trip is well worthwhile. The duty free shopping is hard to beat especially jewellery. The apes and the caves are well worth a visit You could also vist Marbella and Puerto Banus to see the luxury yachts.

Using public transport Use public transport (buses) to get around as much as possible. They're relatively reliable and cheap. Beware that the local train service from Fuengirola is a bit limited. It doesn't go towards Marbella but does go towards Malaga.

The Zoo Go for the night trip. Its cooler, the animals are all up and about and you get dinner with real African musicians to entertain you. The zoo is like no other I have visited and great for all, not just those with kids.
