Esmeraldas Aparthotel... a little gem for our little gems

The hotel was given to us in a shortlist created by ClubClassConcierge and we chose it as it seemed the most suitable for our children. Although I'm not reviewing Club Class Concierge, they even organised some flowers to be delivered on my wife's birthday - big kudos earnt there!! There is a large pool with a separate area for children and the beach is just a short walk away. Although the beach was pebbly there are some lovely sea food restaurants nearby. Great fun for the kids at the hotel as there was a children's entertainer with whom they bonded right away. Well done Hotel Esmeralda.

The hotel was so clean, all staff polite and friendly, hotel rooms were comfortable, great location for all amenities. Would highly recommend this hotel, especially to family. Entertainment day and night very good, keep up the great work Fernando. Had a great holiday!

Clean and bright good service

We went self catering and were allocated a room on the top floor. There were lifts so no problem if you weren't very fit. As we hadn't paid much and were allocated on arrival we had a very pleasant surprise. We had an apartment which was cleaned every day, with fresh clean towels and beddingthere was all you could need for basic self catering, microwave, two electric rings, kettle, toaster and even a basic filter coffee maker. Everything was spotless and had obviously been recently refurbished. The only drawback was the lack of a view - we overlooked apartment blocks. There was nightly entertainment even though it was "off season" and activities for the children round the pool. The evening meal buffet was excellent and to be reccommended, we ate there twice during the week as there are also some excellent restaurants in Tossa itself. The bar and reception area were also clean and welcoming. Hotel staff, from the manager down to the cleaners were polite, cheerful and helpful. But as we had a night flight home we were also pr=leasantly surprised by the newly built basement shower room with loads of hot water and towels, it was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate to visit again.

This holiday was a bargain break for six of mixed age range 7-62yrs. Hotel was spotless. Studios have plenty of room, all facilities and free air conditioning! Towels and bedding changed every other day. Very helpful and friendly staff and free entertainment for kids all day and in evening for adults. Will certainly be booking this one again!!!

Nice, trouble free cheap break

We did not spend a great deal of time in the hotel, but the staff were always polite and helpful, the room was kept clean, it was a very enjoyable, cheap stay. We shall return.

Nothing for kids to do!

We didn't like this hotel at all, construction work being done all week we were there.Not anything 4 kids to do, unless u had to spend money. Paint and saws left lieing about. Vending machine had nothing in it. This hotel is in a very quiet resort and not nothing like it says in the hoilday books.

Top Local Tips for Tossa de Mar

Eating out Our tip is that you try the Chinese just round the corner, all you can eat for around 9 euros each. other than that eat in the hotel, best food ever.

Lounging on the Beach Hiring loungers & parasols on the main beach at Tossa is quite expensive. We bought three mats and a parasol for half the price we were charged on our first day. We didn't take them home with us, but like a lot of stuff - it got left for the cleaners! Also, be warned - the beach at Tossa is shingle. Not nice to walk on in bare feet when it's scorching hot, although much easier to clean out of the bits sand tends to find itself in!

Transportation There is a toy train which stops outside the Oasis hotel (next to the esmareldes) and for 4 euros its a great way to see the town. Especially if you have a toddler, mine loved it, the only problem was getting off
