We shall, God willing, stay at the Planamar next year so, folks, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

The food was of very poor quality; often luke warm and over or undercooked. The restaurant was cramped and like a cafe enviroment with tables set in lines, 6 inches apart.
It is advertised there is a gym, playground, ping pong - there aren't! One site reads as if all rooms have sea views. We were in that was at the back overlooking a building site.
Most of the staff were friendly but there was a rude, abrupt, unhelpful member of staff on the reception.

The rooms were adequate, big enough for two, we had three beds and used the third to stash our suitcases. The balconies were a bit small, but we managed.
With regard to the food, it wasn't cordon bleu but we never went hungry and there was always something you liked, There were about three or four meats and vegetables, pastas, dishes I didn't know, salads, a variety of sweets and fruit, so if you couldn't find something, you were very 'picky'.
With regard to noise from a disco, I can honestly say we never heard anything. The only noises were children running in the corridors and people banging doors when they could have been closed quietly.
The maids never knocked on our door at 8.30am, we left the card on our door handle to say they could clean.
There must have been a youth Football tournament whilst we were there and there were loads of youths from America, Sweden and other countries but they were well behaved and no trouble at all. I don't know what else to say except that Linda, the receptionist was helpful and pleasant in every way as was the 'Flying Dutchman' with the rest of the bar staff. The entertainers worked very hard too.
All I can add that this hotel is small compared with others but very friendly and I would recommend it to anyone. WE SHALL CERTAINLY BE BACK NEXT YEAR.

I would rate this hotel a one star not a three star and having looked at pictures of it on the web I now know pictures do lie as it deffinatly doesnt look any thing like how it is portraid in the brochure. Did I mention being on a busy road opposite a railway line with trains every 30 minutes. Two doors down from a disco which emptied out at 4am or 5am in the morning that was fun being wakened at that time.
My advise would be to stay somewhere else!!!

The bedrooms were tiny, there was barely any room for the beds let alone luggage. The corridors were noisey with people coming and going, the maid would insist on knocking on the door at 8.30 am to clean!
The staff were not friendly at all, in fact they were rude. The hotel was very busy, with no room to sit around the pool in the day or even sit on the so called 'terrace' at night. My advice don't go there!

Top Local Tips for Malgrat de Mar
the best thing will be the flight home will be the best part of the holiday also the spainish locals hate the english there ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? dont go
Public transport The train stops very near to the hotel, Barcelona is easily reached just by a return ticket from the counter and catch the L'hospitalie (excuse the spelling) train to Barcelona Sants this is the main train station in Barcelona, from here you can either join an open top bus tour for the day or grab a map and by a 1 day metro ticket for Zone 1, help is available in the train station to do this. The metro is very simple the lines are all numbered and provided you head in the right direction towards the stop at the end of each line, you shouldnt have a problem. Most city maps show the nearest metro station to each area or attraction. If travelling from Malgrat to Blanes or Lloret de Mar then catch the train to Blanes and there is buses to each place from outside the station, your ticket should cover these aswell, if not then it is around 1-1.25 Euros each way.
trains Use the train to get about - its cheap and quick
