The maid changed the beds every day and give us clean towels, alcohol was plenty so was non alcoholic drinks. Location of the hotel is fantastic not far form pubs and nightlife hope to return again next October with friends. BRILL!!!!!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Monaco Hotel

few issues let this hotel down

from nannas-boy
The hotel Sandos Monaco is very good ,very clean, and in a good location, the food was one of our disappointments, the breakfast was the best meal of the day, we had a couple of good lunches and dinners but the rest were poor and cold its a good job they had a microwave handy for us to use. Our main disappointment was the wi-fi, which didnt work at all , we had chosen a hotel with wi-fi because my husbands job involves the need for 24 hour internet access. The only other fault we can say is you only get the sun round the pool for half of the day. As a suggestion a heated pool would be appreciated by many!

Go to this hotel you will not be dissapointed..

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Monaco celebrating our Silver wedding anniversary, why Benidorm I here you say , well this is where we met 28 years ago..
We were apprehensive about booking the hotel as I work in the travel industry and had read bad reports about it but ,please take NO notice of these as this hotel is certainly the best hotel I have stayed in in Benidorm it is definately worthy of its 4 stars, If I have one critisim it would be the Food it was very good and always warm but a little repetitive ,but I am sure the hotel will put this right.
When we arrived ,as I had advised them of our anniversary we were told we had been given a room with the best view in Benidorm and she was right, all I can say is "WOW". The room was beautiful very spacious 2 double beds flat screen TV, minifridge, in room safe, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and a beautiful bathroom with lovely white fluffy towels oh and the hairdryer.
The hotel has been completely refurbished and if you have stayed there before you would not recognise it. The reception and lounge area is furnished with comfy brown leather sofas and chairs with beautiful lighting. The pool area has a large seating area and bar serving snacks and hot and cold drinks, the pool itself has a jacuzzi at one end and has easy access via steps and a handrail, there are ample sunbeds(very comfy in design) for the size of the hotel I do hope people respect this as we did see a couple that allready had cigarette burns in them (disgusting habit)..
The restaurant is downstairs with ample seating you just help yourself to as much food as you wish to eat. The inside entertainment bar with entertainment every night is downstairs again with ample space to sit and enjoy the ambiance and next to that is the Spa and Gym offering lots of different spa packages (at a supplement).

Hotel is lovely..staff are not

from Rosyryan7
-Hotel is very clean and modern
-Bar staff are excellent
-Good location for shopping, clubbing and beach(a good central location)

-Hotel reception staff are terrible and not helpful
-Pool is not deep enough so swim in
-The food served is cold (even the chips)
-Internet sometimes does not work

Overall i would give the hotel a 3* rating,it appears to be 5* as you enter but due to food and staff at reception it brings it down to a 3*.
When we arrived there around 11pm we were told by reception staff that the airconditioning in our room was broken and we were TOLD to go to the flamingo hotel (flaminging more like!) for that one night. The airconditioning was not broken at all infact he just lied because they had overbooked the hotel. Anyway when we did come back the next day at the time we were told our room would be ready (10am) it wasn't ready so we had to sit around and wait but around 1pm they said our room was ready but by this time we were just tired and p***ed off so that was our first day ruined. As compensation we were promised late checkout on our last day and a free saftey deposit box.
However in saying that the range of drinks at the bar was good and the bar staff make food such as cheesetoasties and burgers which is actually nicer than the food served for meals! The food served for the meals was average (there were some very weird foods infact!). Basically the only good food they did provide was chips and soup-which were both cold.
The hotel pool was poor as it was only about 4feet deep.
On the day of our flight back home (flight time:9pm) we decided to get up early and sunbathe all day then nap later on in the afternoon before we left for the airport but hotel staff voided our key and we were unable to get into the room and they told us we had no latecheck out. After about 15mins of arguing with them they said we could have latecheck out but we had previously been promised that so there was no need for all of that in the first place!

The holiday was good for clubbing also-lots of bars are open till 5am and they are just as good as clubs :)

Nice hotel with good points and bad points.

from reddct
Stayed all inclusive for 4 days. Hotel is modern and rooms are good with large bathrooms and beds.
Most of the staff are ok, with 1 or 2 grumpy 1s.
Nice bars, restaurant, but the food on a few occasions was poor and cold.
Another dissappointment was the pool, being in shade for half the day and very shallow, with the deepest part being 1.2 m.
An enjoyable stay at a decent enough hotel.good location but food and pool area are minus points.

by far the BEST hotel i have stayed in ... but....

from honeyjaz
Absolutely stunning hotel. Rooms are good size and bathroom massive!! We have just come back and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are friendly and helpfull. We have been going to Benidorm for some 12yrs and this has got to be the best hotel we have stayed in.. The food was WOW !! (definately spoilt for choice), something for everyone..
Hotel is very central for nightlife, beaches and shops. I stayed in room 607 (6th floor) lovely views of sea and town.
NOW..for a very small grumble... The maid in our room was a bit lapse, bathroom bin only changed twice in week, floors only swept a couple of times and bathroom mirrors were never cleaned from time we got there to leaving. But saying that towels were changed daily and linen twice weekly. Cleanliness in other areas of the hotel and grounds were fantastic. All in all a very enjoyable holiday, Would definately recommend..
A BIG thank you to the receptionists, waitresses and bar staff who worked very hard to make our stay an unforgettable experience.

If you are going to Benidorm stay at this hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Sandos Monaco for 3 nights as a long weekend away.
As soon as we walked into the reception area we knew that we had made a good decision to stay here - it was modern and very clean. It got even better when we saw the room - 2 queen sized beds plus a single bed, LCD TV, dressing area, small table and chairs and plenty of wardrobe space then we checked the bathroom out - it was to die for!! it was huge! The room was spotless.
The food was ok for all inclusive, it wasn't bad, just not loads of choice compared to what we are used to from previous all inclusives but this may be due to the hotel not being fully booked or that it was near the end of high season. The breakfasts were the best meal by far, there was plenty of choice and it was gorgeous. The drinks were nice and by the amount my husband drank I took it that the beer was nice!, you can also get brand drinks at a discounted price if you wanted to i.e. Woodpeckers, Strongbow, Baileys etc.
The location is excellent - a slow 10 minute walk to the beach or 5 minute to the bars and the square.
We would recommend this hotel and are looking to book again for a week away with the kids.

great location nice hotel

from liketotravelAberdeen
just got back from this hotel had a great time in benidorm hotel was good better than a lot in the area very modern and clean but you can expect that with it just opening in was not up and running yet but what we seen looks good.meals was okay you can always get something to eat but a lot of fish dishes the lady who cooks the eggs in the morning is very helpful she would even cook any omelete you wanted but saying that all the staff was very good except one of the bar staff god if he smiled his face would crack but all in all this was a good hotel and i we will be going back.

Very Modern, Clean, on to a Hilton

from princessr0w
Stayed there with a friend and 2 young children. Very modern fixtures and fittings, fresh and clean. Food was of a good standard, good variety. Nightentertainment was slightly weak- so was the kids daytime entertainment. A warning if you are expecting a high level of Enhglish around the place, loads of Spanish guests, and staff speak minimum English (which I found refreshing! a good chance to practice my Spanish!). Staff on the whole polite, althought the bar staff did ignore my 6 and 11 year old at times. Very Very nice- would stay there again in a heart beat!

A changed hotel

from holsYork
I have returned from staying here in July 2009. The hotel has been closed for some time for refurbishment, and has just reopened 2 weeks ago!
Reading earlier reviews I was apprehensive about this hotel but I can say it was great, The rooms are all new and are very modern and clean. The food was ok, Nothing special but all you can expect from a spanish all inclusive, The location was great, Near the beach and the nightlife but far enough away not to be noisey. All i would say is that the hotel was nice and quiet and think things like the pool would be very busy when the hotel gets going. I would try and book this hotel soon before it makes all the next set of holiday brochures as we had a great time and everyone in our group of 7 thought it was the best hotel they have stayed in in Spain!

This hotel has been renovated.

from Fosters123
Just spent a week there 'all inclusive'.The Hotel is superb, nice rooms, bars and pools. There was no kids entertainment what so ever.Entertainment on the night times was Bingo and backing music.Food was poor but i always excpect that with all inclusive but the food here was poor AND constantley cold, even if you got there on the opening time.Half way through the week they put a microwave at the end of the service table,i kid you not!
Location is great close to the beach and a kids funfair just down the road.
I would recommend it if you were going as a couple to use as a base only but not for kids.
