Historical Traveller Reviews of Hotel Mediterraneo Benidorm

from Adele8098
Returned recently from 2 week stay in this hotel. The room was very spacious and kept very clean, the staff on reception were lovely, and the main one - the kids reps were amazing! We travelled with First Choice, and our 6 and 4 year olds were in every day, doing activities ranging from deep sea activities to chocolate parties! They made lots of friends. and the 2 reps Issy and Rae were brilliant with them. If our kids are happy, then we are happy, and they certainly were! The pool was brilliant too, and while at first I thought the lifeguards were a bit over-the-top, whistling at the slightest thing, I realised very quickly that this meant the safety of everyone was always taken very seriously. Any small gripes about the place would be that the food for the children was quite similar every night, but they always found something - we didnt let them starve! And the entertainment wasn't briliant at night. The resident band were awful - but always good for a laugh (at them) and some of the shows were very amatuerish. We were in Benidorm though, and after the first week spent mostly in the hotel in the evenings, we went out most nights in the second week. We would walk down, which took about 20 minutes, and jump in a taxi home. All in all, a great family holiday. We were going to book again for next year, but unfortuately, First Choice are moving out of the hotel early next year, and moving to the hotel next door.

Excellent value for money

from Tim12345
We went to the Hotel Mediterraneo from 22nd July - 29th July with First Choice. Once we arrived, we were checked in quickly by the reception staff, who were very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Our room was nice, comfortable and clean with all the basic facilities including some extras too (mini fridge, radio with speakers built into the walls, hairdryer etc.) We were also given an information pack with leaflets about the local area, visitor attractions etc. The swimming pool was fairly big but one depth all the way around, there was also a small pool for the children. A lifeguard was always on duty. The food was very good and always a big selection to choose from, the waiters/waitresses were also very polite, helpful and always on hand if you needed anything. There were a couple of bars in the hotel, one outdoors and the other indoors. They offered a big selection of drinks and snacks to cater for all tastes. In the indoor bar, there were a few computers for internet access which cost about 1 euro for 15 minutes. The entertainment was good, but mostly children orientated with a mini disco and games for them every night, then there was usually bingo and some sort of show afterwards. The hotel is situated about 20 minutes walk to the beach and there are a lot of shops, bars and cafes on the way. A 5 minute walk up the road from the hotel took us to Aqualandia and Mundomar, which are good value for money and an enjoyable day out.
Overall we found the hotel excellent value for money and we will be defiantly be going back in the future.

Great For Kids

from bamps
My wife , daughter , 3 year old grandaughter and myself have just returned from a fabulous holiday at this hotel. We were booked in by friendly staff at reception in fact everyone in the hotel was very pleasant and great to the kids.

The rooms were large and clean and the air-conditioning was a blessing at night time.

My family really enjoyed the pool which was warm and very clean , the lifeguard was strict but very fair and although some were dissapointed at not being allowed inflateables it was a bonus for my grand-daughter who with the other children in water wings were able to play together in peace.

The food was good and always enough.

Kids club and play area were great , only the shows were a let down , having said that the kids did not seem to bothered.

My grand-daugher made lots of special friends and that made for a great holiday for the rest of us. Brian , Chris , Lisa and Caitlin

We arrived at the hotel and we were checked in very quickly by friendly reception staff
we then made our way to our room 4-208 to be precise. The room was very comfortable and very clean. It didnt take long to settle in to.The meals served were all faultless and a gtood variety of food to cater for all tastes and a good choice for kids. The drinks service was also good as a waiter was always at hand to order more if you wanted.Staff were very friendly and helpful and always had a smile for the paying customer. The Entertainment was also very good again catering for all tastes and ages. The only downfall was the swimming pool you had to suffer cold shock once in and you were not allowed inflatables .We had an excellent week even though it rained for first 2 days the following 5 made up for it.On the whole this hotel does deserve more recognition for what it does for the holidaymaker. I would definately return to the Mediterraneo if i went back to costa blanca .I had a great day snorkeling at the edge of the bay at the start of the beach the water was clear and the fish and wildlife a plenty.Darren , Tracey,Jade and Kai Walsh Lechlade -on-Thames Glos UK.

Great for Families

from A TripAdvisor Member
We took our youngest grandson, aged 8 to the Mediterraneo for a week this Easter. Not having been to a "family" orientated hotel for a number of years we were very impressed. The rooms are large, in fact big enough for a family with 2 children without being squashed. The bathrooms are well appointed and have shower gel, shampoo, comb, etc provided. There is a fridge and and also an in room safe. The hotel is in a nice quiet position yet only about 10 minutes walk from the beach depending on how fast you walk or stroll!! The food was good, well presented and our grandson who can be a little bit fussy with his eating always found plenty he liked and he didn't have chips either. The all inclusive package was well worth the extra and good value for money. The hotel is just around the corner from Mundomar which is a kind of sea world, with dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows. We had a really lovely day. The hotel also provides picnic boxes for days out which again came in handy. There are two pools at the hotel, one indoor and one outdoor as well as the usual table tennis and pool tables. Generally quite a lot to keep kids entertained. There was a kids disco in the evening which was quite noisy and not what we would usually encounter but our grandson loved it and that was the whole point of going anyway. All in all we had a lovely week at the Mediterraneo, our grandson thoroughly enjoyed himself. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel especially if you are taking children. One plus point is that it is only two storey high, so much better for children than a huge high rise.

it.s a nice hotel clean and very friendly but i found the food poor both in quality and choice. the entertainment in the evening wasn.t up to scratch either

Excellent Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Prior to staying at this hotel in December, we read the comments on this page, and wondered if we would enjoy our holiday. The hotel was excellent in every way, all staff pleasant and helpful, and restaurant food very good, lots of choices, not all on the main area. Rooms were clean and modern as you would hope in a new hotel. Entertainment every night, a good rep on site. A very high standard of cleaning, both inside and out, pool and surrounding areas cleaned every day even at this time of year. Opposite the Benidorm Palace, and on the main bus route from town. Bus number 10 stops directly outside front door of hotel. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Dont Pass This Hotel By ....... Superb

from Paul619916
Prior to booking this holiday to Benidorm at the Hotel Mediteraneao, I looked at the reviews as usual. I was suprised to find such a diverse range of reviews and was a little sceptacle whether to book it or not.
Glad I did. The hotel is 5 years old and has all mod cons. Rooms nice and large including fridge. Nice decor to all rooms.
Food was fantastic and, believe me, I am a fussy person when it comes to food.
Beach was a bit of a walk away, about 20 minutes stroll but I started taking a taxi at 3 euros for the trip.

I have NO complaints whatsoever and would return there again.

English - no good

from A TripAdvisor Member
Have just returned back fron staying one week here. Food was more for the spanish and german not good at all for the english unless you liked to eat salad every day like I ate most of the time, other than that i ate out. One of the cooks were quite rude when i asked for a cheese and onion toastie snack as there was nothing what i liked on the lunch time, i was told to take the ham off the toasties he had already done which was no good to me as i don't like ham at all. Also i asked the same chef what was in the pastry dish and he said no understand so why didn't they have a label on them. The rooms were very nice and the pool area was too. The entertainment again was more for the spanish and german, i don't think this should be down for the english to go to. I certainly won't go back to that hotel its not as if we got it cheap either, waste of money.

quality hotel....poor entertainment

from A TripAdvisor Member
just back on 24th september with my wife and 5 month old daughter. This is a quality hotel with immaculate facilities and rooms. The first week was full of british families who made the average entertainment bearable. Unfortunately, after the first week, the hotel entertainment became more focused towards the spanish, french and german ways. From ballet dancing to keyboard playin mother and daughter, the songs were mostly in spanish and kept the easily amused spanish/french well entertained but all the british people had had enough and we spend most of week 2 down the town in the local pubs even though I payed alot of money for the all inclusive holiday. The poolside is very quiet with nobody allowed to use beach balls or water beds despite the hotel organising water football and volleyball which hit myself and others several times causing a bit of uproar from the people told to not use any beach balls etc. The food was good but again by the 2nd week it became sickly eating the same stuff over and over. In the cafeteria, some staff were very freindly but some were so ignorant towards british people, tending to serve the spanish and french instead. The bar staff are nice and friendly, but at 11pm, the all inclusive stops and you have to pay for the drinks. I would go back, but only half board because although the place in lovely, the entertainment at night will mess with your head!
