My 2 friends and I stayed at the joya for a week for a girly holiday in june 07. The staff were friendly and efficient. Although the hotel seemed to cater more for the spanish visitors with food and entertainment this wasnt a problem as there are plenty lively bars, cheap cafes and english pubs nearby. The rooms were adequate and kept clean, and there were plenty sunbeds. It is also situated in a nicer part of town away from the more boistrous square, where you are constantly hassled by staff trying to get you to go into their bars.if you are looking for a cheap and cheerfull base I would recommend the joya to anybody.
Well worth the money

Just returned from the hotel Joya in Benidorm. There were 6 adults in our party and we were only staying for the weekend. (Friday to Monday). When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly suprised how new and clean it looked from the outside. We had booked the hotel only 2 weeks beforehand and so as it was only a 2 star did not expect too much.
We were all pleasantly surprised with the hotel and pool area which was clean and not too crowded at all. When we booked into the hotel the man at reception was very efficient and spoke good english. He had us booked in and on the way to our rooms within 5 minutes. There are small lifts in the hotel and they seemed to be rarely used as we found them always available. The hotel was just as clean as it had seemed from the outside. The reception, lifts, hallways and rooms were spotless during our entire stay. Towels were changed daily and beds made also daily. There was no real entertainment at the hotel to speak of but as we were all adults we weren't going to stay in the hotel during the evenings anyway so it did'nt matter to us.
The bar was cosy and the although the staff did not speak too much english, they knew what you wanted and were friendly enough.
The pool was not very big but was warm and usually pretty empty, probably because there were very few children staying at the hotel. There were no problems getting a sunbed throughout the day as there were plenty to go around and plenty of space to put them.
The only problem we had was the food at the hotel. We had paid for half board but only ate at the hotel on one occasion. We did go to the restaurant on a couple of occasions but could not find any food we liked. The hotel was pretty much all spanish and it seemed only spanish food was served. I know we were in spain and should expect mostly spanish food, but there was absolutely nothing we recognised on some meals. Apart from the food however the hotel was fine.
A clean, friendly and well located hotel (it was only 5 minutes from the bars etc and less than 10 minutes from the beach) We all enjoyed our stay and would go there again. It must be a 2 star hotel only because of the food and lack of entertainment
