Excellent Resort

We have just returned from The Helious Hotel In Benidorm. The resort itself is excelent and can not fault it one bit. Plenty to do for all ages with loads of eating and drinking places. Good sandy beach. Nobody could go wrong with a mixture of all cultures.
Hotel is ideal location with good pool facilities and is spotlessly clean however we we full board and did not like the food breakfast was okay but lunch and dinner was a cattle market and they really do not cater for kids.

We stayed at the helios over christmas and newyear 2005/2006 we found the hotel room to be very clean and towels changed every day, maid service was also very good and friendly. The food on the other hand was horrendous there was no choice and the english were not catered for what so ever u only had one choice of meat and fish which was not very nice and the puddings well what puddings u gt a choice of 1 cake and some fruit which didn't look very appetising in the slightest. To my horror on newyears eve there was a full on lesbian sex show which cud only be described as hard core porn with no notice or warning to keep children out of the bar the staff really seemed to be enjoying them selves they call this a family hotel (when children are exposed to pornography, i dont think so) the hotel is mainly full of spanish guests who are very rude to the english. there was only 1 man on reception who offers any help all the others are jus ignorant. i would not recomend this hotel to anyone or stay there again!

the hotel is very clean and in a excellent place , all the staff are extremely friendly ang go out of there way for you, the entertainment was good but found it was always on late at night which is not ideal for the kids and the food could be alot better as there is no choice for kids , other than the food relly a greatttttttttttttttt palce to stay loved it

Looking at the reviews on the Helios Hotel, I am beginning to wonder if I was at the same hotel.

I have been to many hotels and was really impressed with the Helios. The rooms were large, comfortable and very clean, as were all the public areas.

I found the food to be very good, if a bit repetitive but to be fair when you are on full board having two full meals a day there is not a lot else you can do with fish, chicken,pork, beef or lamb. That aside there was always a good choice and there was always a pasta or rice choice along with cooked meats and a wide variety of salads. Puddings were a bit of a disappointment but then I don't eat sweets anyway. As far as entertainment at the hotels goes, why go to Benidorm and stop in the hotel!!

All in all we had a wonderful time

Ideal location, not rowdy but everything within walking distance. hotel spotlessly clean, spacious and modern, not a lot of choice at meal times but there was always something.not many children in the hotel a lot of different nationalities but no-one bothered you. market twice a week around the corner, beach at the end of the road, bars and cafes 2 mins away. men must wear long trousers/jeans for evening meal. one of the most comfortable,quiet relaxing hotels i have been in yet.
Cafe benidorm in the square is an ideal cabaret bar for all ages, shows nightly and disco with music for all ages, e.g 7o,s etc always a friendly atmosphere. Beware of the potato men gang who play hiding a pea under a potato for bets, there is a gang of about 30 and they pretend to bet ,but if u stand and watch you will have your bag/pockets robbed, even some british people are in the gang, they can be frightening and start pushing you and get stroppy to scare you, peolple getting robbed left right and centre especially on market days. I went in august and thought the resort would be rowdy, but i have been about 5 times and all ages get on well together. Happy hols!

When we first got to the hotel me and my partner were both happy with what we found. However over the duration of our stay we began to change our minds slightly. We had very noisy people stopping in the room next to us. After putting up with the noise for over a week me and my partener got a phone call in the middle of the night form one of the reception staff telling us to be quiet!! Must have rang the wrong room and i can tell you that he was not very pleasant in his tone. Some of the staff ( and i must stress that one man in particular was always very polite) on reception are not as friendly as you'd expect. One man was even smoking on reception when we were checking us out. To me that is very poor customer care skills.
It takes ages to get served at the bar. On one occasion me and my partner had been standing at the bar for about 5 mins with no sign of a barman. One of the reception staff had finnished his shift and came down to the bar for a drink and shouted the barman. The barman served the man and left us standing there longer! Again-bad customer care.
You are told where to sit in the restaurant and most people are put on a table with complete strangers. Luckily we really got on with the people sat with us. They too shared the same opinion of the food served. Most of us had the same food every night, it was not very good. Poor Joe was beginning to look like a chip he ate so many during his stay. We were sat just as you come into the restaurant and we felt like we were in the way and people would stop and stare at what was on our plates. The manager, although he was very polite, was stood over us constantly near his desk. A coach full of people turned up one evening and the manager was not there to take them to their places. So about 100 people were queing up watching us eat our food!!! I went to ask the waitress but she said she did not speak English.
However, our rooms were always kept really clean and i was very impressed with the maid service. We always had clean towels and bedding. We were very pleased with that side of things.

Disappointed

Have just come back from this hotel feeling very let down. First impressions were great, lovely and clean, located perfectly in relation to the shops, bars and beach. However entertainment at night was a joke. If you like spanish music and dancing this is the place for you but my self, husband and kids were not impressed. We like hotel entertainment as part of our holiday and don't want to go out every night but we had to on this holiday. Also beware a lot of glass was found by the pool over our 2 week stay. Food was basic (although they try to be fancy on some days with pig's trotters, deer and rabbit). Restaurant manager is lovely and found him to be the most helpful and approachable on our stay. I am a vegetarian but the manager came up to our table every night checking every thing was ok and would go and ask the chef to make me something if there was not anything suitable on display. Guys are not allowed to wear shorts in the restaurant.

this hotel was probably 1 of the worst hotels the hotel its self was very nice with a clean enviroment and a welcomin area. however the hotels resturant was rubbish there was mostly the same food evry nite there was not alot of choice 1 day during my holiday i had 4 potatoes becoz there was nothin else there 2 eat i wud not recommend this hotel to any1!!!! the bar staff are very kind and helpful and so are the chambermaids!!! but the people at reception are alrite sometimes but there was one guy hu was very old and was neither use nor orniment to us!!!im glad i went to dat hotel tho becoz i met some lovely people and some gud m8s my holiday overall was very good!!!! :):):)

Wow! What a hotel. In fact the best i've ever stayed at and i've stayed at alot over the past years. Where do i start? Well the staff in the helios hotel were pleasant, mannerly and like to mingle with the visitors in the hotel, nothing is to much for them. For being in Spain the food was actually pretty tasty, there were a selection of salads and vegetarion dishes, but also there was a great selection of meats, breads, fishes, sauces and potatoes, chips. The rooms were always kept spick and span with the cleaners in everyday(they usually come in about 8.00 - 9.00), and what a view! Hotel Helios is situated at the heart of Benidorm, which is right next to the square for all the partyiers like me and my friend but also the market and the shops are just around the corner aswell. The only negative thing i could say about this fantastic hotel is that if you are older and dont like as much noise at night, then there is the bar "Jokers" like 10 metres away from the hotel and the party gooes on in there 7 days a week from like 11am to 7am. And as for Benidorm itself in my opinion you either love it or you hate it. AND I LOVE IT. SO MUCH THAT ME AND MY FRIEND ARE GOING BK IN JULY 05!!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON HELIOS HOTEL!!!!!!!!

We have just returned from a week at the Helios,Our party had 10 very disipointed that we had to wait 2 hrs untill the room was ready,
Meals poor quality,staff not very helpful,one of our party had wallet stolen from outside hotel,
Water in pool very cold not heated as advertised,drink very expensive in the bar,
Entertainment very poor 90% German would suit very old 70+,
Rember your reciept for safe or no deposit return ?
Room very good maid service sheets changed regular plenty towels,
Get room higher up as very nosy if above canteen deliverys, bottle
waste removal very nosy at 6am,
spain 30% uk 10% french 10%german 50%

Top Local Tips for Benidorm

NightLife Benidorm never sleeps. Its great for its nightlife. Thr rock and roll bar is great to go in. It has many tribute shows-all of them being excellent (well the ones we saw anyway). Also we loved the square which was mainly aimed for the younger people with its dance music and very lively atmosphere its a great place for a very very good night out. Drinks arent to expensive and they usually have deals on them.

local buses travel 1 stop or to end of line for 1 euro - great value

Irish Pubs We spent time looking at the Irish bars and found the Harp, the Shamrock and the Celtic Tavern, 3 of the most friendly places to have a drink and the craic was 90. You must try them!
