Fantastic bargain
from Charlotte27
We booked this from First Choice via the Internet 2 weeks before travelling. It was the week after half term so very few kids about. We were looking for an easy and cheap getaway, though Benidorm wasn't consider at all at first
Main reasons for booking were
a) Price
b) All Inclusive..There were so few being advertised for when we wanted to go. I'd disagree with previous reviewer who said there was no alcohol in the drinks. Lager (we've previously had v dodgy local brews on other hols) was fine, spirits full strength and bar was fairly flexible on closing. Food was the best we've ever had on these sort of packages. Loads of fresh fruit and variety at all meals. Waiting staff were extremely efficient and you could tell food hygiene was good (restaurant cleanliness, temperature of food, keeping stuff separate etc) Meal times were of a good duration so you didn't feel as though it was one mad rush to get to dinner for example.
Rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard.
Place does need a general freshening Re: decor and all the high rise hotel blocks make for a bleak horizon but ignoring that, you have 2 balconies and are only 5 mins walk to beach. There are 2 lovely sandy beaches nearby and you have all the facilities you could wish for. A few of the pubs were closed for winter but to be quite honest, if you let your hair down and use everything the hotel has to offer, you don't really feel like going elsewhere!
Reps were on site everyday but thankfully had no cause to contact them. One last thing...DO NOT let anyone give you a scratchcard on the street. Its not timeshare but a dodgy holiday club scam. We are intelligent and usually assertive people and somehow we got whisked upstairs into an unmarked building to listen to a 90 mins talk! Very dodgy and we felt like muppets afterwards!
All in all, resort brilliant for couples & families when we went. I imagine in the summer months it could get wild with all girl/ boy groups but if that's what you want, there is plenty to amuse you!

this was our first all inclusive holiday.the food was lovely, hotel clean, friendly service from all who worked there.we hardly left the hotel.just sat by the pool which the kids enjoyed.the entertainment was good for both adults and kids.the pool was clean.we saved loads by going all inclusive.we would definately recommend it to anyone thinking of going.we definately will be next year, and hoping to go for xmas 2006.the kids cant wait.
It was so so....
from chipss
Flamingo Benidorm, where do I start.
Food was brilliant absolutely 100% in our first week, (end of August) but the second week it was nowhere near the standanrd of the previous week. Massive selection to cater for all, childrens own menu in the evenings, nuggets, fishfingers, sausages etc and chips are always available. Indian, Chinese, Italian food nights. Cannot fault the food really.
The all inclusive alcohol is really non alcoholic, we drank from 10am - 12 am different drinks all day mixing sangria, vodka, gin, wine, larger etc and still no effect. We went to a bar outside in the street, I was drunk after 3 wines, so it goes to show, the drinks are massively watered down.
The staff are really strict on 12am end of free drinks policy, they quickly put up a sign saying you have to pay now and they are strict about it, so get the drinks in before 12am sharp.
And they are strict on the wearing of the plastic all inclusive wrist band. I took mine off are kept getting stopped and they wouldn't serve me free drinks without one, so you might as well keep it on.
You have to get to the sunbeds by 8.30 am sharp in the high season, at 8.30 everyone charges out past the clearners even if they havn't finished, they all shout at you 9 o clock but no one takes any notice, and they all run out, then the cleansers hose you with the water hose accidently on purpose and wet the towels you lay down on the sunbed. In high season (up to end Aug) ALL sunbeds were gone at 8.30am, out second week, )begin Sept) it calmed down and there were still some left at 9am, not many though.
Day time childrens entertainment is rubbish. The park is just one little climbing frame and slide, only good for toddlers really. The evening entertainment is okay for kids.
Bingo is played every night at 9pm outisde where all the entertainment is held on the white tables and chairs. Then a show of some sort, most of them rubbish though. They have a crappy hypotist that wasnt very convincing. If they paid to have better entertainers they could make the hotel brilliant. This is the biggest downfall. The entertainment.
We had to keep going out for good enteratinment in the square where its all happening, you must experience this, and they let chilren in the pubs until midnight and the nightclubs too.
Dont sit ialong the side area of the big pool near the small pool as the paving slabs are wobbly and the smell of sewers is disgusting, you dont want to sunbath with that smell every time someone steps on those paving slabs. It made me heave so often until I moved my location.
The music around the pool is rubbish mainly spannish songs from a really bad speaker, that needs fixing.
Get another key for a 10 euro deposit at reception, for the room then leave the electricity on with the other key all day to keep the air conditioning on, and remember to ensure the windows are clsed for it too work.
The staff are not that friendly really, Antonio the waiter seems to try to grope every woman he fancies.
Get your fags over there they are cheaper than the airport.
Bring english pounds and exchange it over there for a better rate currently 1.70 euros to the pound with no charge or percentage taken. Ask a rep for the best place to go.
Have a tattoo done, they are very good, clean and safe.
I dont think I saw one person including old grannies without a tattoo done.
Quite a few people got an ear infection when we were there from the pool they said. So bring some drops in advance. I was ok though.
The lifts can be really slow sometimes, 2 for even floors and 2 for odd numbered floors, if you have to take the other lift and walk down one flight. Or sometimes I waited 10 minutes for a lift.
Security in the restaurant is rubbish, anyone could just walk into the hotel, go downstairs in the self service restaurant, help yourself, eat and leave and no one would notice, if you go to get a drink at the little bar though they will only ask for a wrist band there. But there is fruit juice from the machine self servcie.
There are lots of families who didn't appreciate that they were in a hotel. Their chilren run riot at night, breaking up the place, and the parents just sat there. They were all gone by the second week though.
Benidorm in August/September, weather in the late 80s and early 90s, lovely.
Do visit Mundomar to see the dolphin and sea lion shows etc. And Aqualandia is suppose to be really good if you like really big water slides, you can see the slides from 15th floor balcony.
Go to the square where all the night life is, many bars/discos open till 6am.
Range of different night life, shows, different music to suit all.
Have a go on the mechanical bull outside the kareoke bar.
Good holiday for teenagers or young people mates etc, looking for good clubbing night life.
Hair braiders work all night in the square. Not much for younge children to do.
Drug sellers on street corners near the square, they seem quite easy to get.
Very very commercialised.
Not a place I will be back to I'm afraid to say. Been there, done that, nothing to shout about.
I paid £3000 for 2 adults one 6 yr old and one 16 yr old children, wasn't worth it. I couldn't wait to get home.

Lovely Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
We have recently come back from the Flamingo Benidorm, had a really nice time.
Hotel was lovely and clean, all staff really nice.
Food was great, such a big selection of Salads, Hot foods, and lovely puddings, didn't have a bad meal.
Pool was nice, Sun Loungers were really uncomfortable though!
Entertainment in the eve was alot for the children, and they had some shows which were OK.
Not too far from the main strip, an bout a 10 min walk, but we didnt really have the need to go out as it was so nice in the Flamingo!

worst holiday ever.

I have been on many holidays and i would have to say that this one was the worst ever. The food was terrible, we ended up driving to burger king which cost us 100 US travel and meal. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE.

The entertainment on a night is without competition and is really well operated and smoothly run. The entertainer Chloe did a brilliant job with the kids and the bingo on nightly was good as she also spoke Spanish very well. Chloe should be congragulated on her work as she brightens up everyone.
I really enjoyed my stay here and the cleaners did a good job as rooms were spotless. Will definetly be coming back next year best holiday ive ever been on. Its a 5star hotel for a 3star price. Please give appraisel to all staff and entertainers.
