Excellent location, quiet and comfortable

The hotel is located just opposite the Mesquita, the main attraction of Cordoba. It's not that easy to find and parking space in the garage is limited. But welcome and service was excellent. It's worth a stay.

Great Place!

We found this hotel to offer excellent value and location in the old section of Cordoba. It offered services and looks that we would expect to be found at higher starred hotels, and at a very reasonable price.

The lobby and public areas were really beautiful in a Moorish style with lots of tile and warm colors. The location is amazing, facing the wall of the Mestiza and only about a half a block away from the entrance. It was very easy to walk to all of the major sights inside the walled portion of the city, as well as many restaurants and bars, which was good since we did not have a car. Taxi from the train station to the hotel was a little over 5 EU.

The customer service offered by the hotel was also excellent – the reception staff not only recommended the best way to get to Granada but they also called the bus station to get the schedules and prices for the next day, including having to endure being on hold for a very long time. We found them to be very gracious and they recommended a couple places for tapas and drinks as well as dinner.

The room was average – two single beds pushed together that were adequate but not terribly comfortable. Still, this is very common in Spain and we didn’t have any problem with it. The room was good sized, clean and very quiet. It didn’t have a lot of character but did include a minibar, TV, and good water pressure in the bathroom (which was large and featured a bidet). Even though it was quite hot outside, the air conditioning was extremely efficient and we actually had to turn it pretty far down to keep from being too cold! View was the side of a building but we were paying rock bottom price (47EU a night) so did not have any complaints that we didn’t have a Mestiza view!

All in all, this was a great value on a hotel and we would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a decent hotel at hostel prices.

Great hotel. Literally located across the street from the Mezquita and the Alcazaba. Includes free parking in the underground garage. A definiate plus! Very spacious lobby and hallways. Rooms and bathrooms are large. Spent 1 night here, but was great.

Lobby is beautifully decorated in Moorish accents.

Best hotel on our trip to Andalucia

Perfect experience here. Could not ask for a better location -- at the entrance to the Mezquita. Room was large, clean and well-furnished with an enormous bathroom and a small balcony. Rate was great and staff decently helpful.

Excellent hotel. Very clean with pleasant helpful staff. Centrally situated with underground parking. We had a meal in the restaurant at night which was not only well above average but also very reasonable. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels round the world and am very fussy, this is in the top ten.

Conveninet location for centre of city

Stayed here in September 2004. A comfortable hotel in the very centre of the old town, opposite the Mesquita. A great location for sightseeing on foot. The rooms were large and well equipped with a good bathroom. Room 115 over-looked the Mesquita, along a main street and was a bit noisy at nights, so maybe ask for a quiet room or a room at the back. I think some rooms overlooked the inner courtyard which would have been lovely. As well as eating in the restaurant, you could take breakfast, lunch or dinner in the inner courtyard which was very pleasant. Dinner was very good are reasonably priced. Breakfast was good and varied. The hotel also has its own café and delightful gift shop. The staff were courteous and helpful. Noise carries a bit in this hotel and we were aware of other guests in neighbouring rooms. However, overall it was a nice hotel and good value for money. The hotel has an underground car park.
Do note, the local bells chime on the hour from 8am but we did not find this too disruptive as I felt this was time to stir and see the city anyway.

Our room was quite large, the parking was free, and the rate was good (maybe a web special?). We didn't need the air conditioning, because it was November. Our 2nd floor room, facing the side street, was a bit noisy late at night. Yes, it was hard to find, but if we'd read the map better... Too many one way streets in these old towns! Would stay here again, but might also try another hotel. We picked this one based on location and price.

This hotel doesn't really seem to know what it wants to be! It is a great location we could have reached out our window and touched the Mezquita and the old quarter is delightful. The hotel however reminds me of a business hotel and not a great one at that. The rooms and bathrooms were a reasonable size but housekeeping needs more oversight. Burnt out light bulbs, no soap in the bathroom and slightly grubby curtains and bedspreads. But they were waxing the floor in the room next to ours at 10.45pm! The price was odd too E60 for a Tuesday night and E120 for a wednesday! The front desk is run by a group of charming but slightly ditzy youngish women. Their private conversations always seemed a little bit more important than a guest's request. Breakfast was adequate but we played "hunt your own spoons" two mornings in a row. Would we stay there again? Despite the location - no- just too uneven. On restaurants, I would recommend "los Marqueses" (5 minutes from the hotel) without hesitation. Wonderful innovative takes on Andalucian food, attentive service and delightful decor. Dinner for two with wine was about USD80.

We stayed here 19-22 October, 2004. When we arrived at this hotel we thought it was a 4 star, rather than a 3 star. Pretty marble lobby, nice courtyard, nice room with good view. Then the door lock wouldn't work (repairman called), the tv wouldn't work (repairman called), the air conditioning wasn't working at all for 3 very warm days, and then the elevators broke. Agreed, the location is great, but parking isn't free--it costs 12.75 euros a night. After 3 weeks in Spain, this was our most expensive (405 euros for 3 nights, plus garage fees) and least satisfactory stay. We tried to talk to the manager, but he was always "out." We thought it was a lousy value for the money. We would not stay here again.

Great position very close to the Mesquita and other sights of Cordoba. Clean, spacious rooms and pleasant staff. We stayed as a family taking two rooms and the bill was surprisingly cheap. Even has an underground carpark included in the price. Recommended.

We've spent one night in this hotel Sep. 2004. We got a tiny room, tiny bed (even for europe) I think it was a room for one because there was only one bed light. I asked for an extra pillow and were'nt able to get it for two hours until i had to go in my pajamas to the reception to get it myself. We were setteled on the ground floor and people from the street passed right next to our window. Also, when we came back home, i've noticed i recieved an e-mail from this hotel saying that their booking system had some problems and they overbooked the hotel and needed to put us in a different hotel. a day later another e-mail was sent that they were able to find a new room for us. Maybe this was the reason for the tiny ground floor room - but how did they think we'll get the e-mail during our trip - why not try the mobile phones we supplied? Over all - great location, bad service, uncomfortable room, too expensive (about 170 euro) ... we were very disappointed.

Top Local Tips for Cordoba

Mezquita The sight everyone comes to see is the beautiful Mezquita. Row upon row of marble pillars polished at hand height to a shiny black gloss over the eons from the endless hands running over them. The geometric white and rust red double arches crowning the black pillars are just magnificent. Even the Cathedral in the middle does not ruin the whole effect. It is a well known story that when Carlos V finally agreed to a Renaissance era Cathedral to be built within the Mosque that when he first saw it he was to exclaim “You have built what you or others might have built anywhere, but you have destroyed something unique in the world." Make sure you also seek out the Sala del Mihrab, a prayer room with much marble and covered with beautiful mosaics. Originally it was direct worshippers towards Mecca and to amplify the Inman. Having confused my times and visiting when there was a sermon in progress in the Cathedral built in the centre I can only say that the service heightened the atmosphere.

Late June is very hot If you plan to visit the beautiful Andalusia, try to avoid mid-summer, its very, VERY hot. On the upside, the place is not crowded at all.

Mezquita Please, take a guided tour to visit the Mezquita. You need to 'understand' more than see, there are good guides waiting in front of the entrance. We joined a group from Argentina (Cordoba) by chance and the guide was a University professor and the personal guide of the Queen of Spain when visiting Córdoba. I would have stayed the whole day hearing the explanations and the Mezquita's history while strolling inside it.
