I have travelled to Cadaques a dozen times since 1973. The last 10 years I have stayed at the Rocamar on 5-6 ocassions. It is not the Alfonso XIII,Villa Magna, or the Marques de Riscal, but it is the best in town. The Playa Sol is good also but doesn't have a nice beach. The Rocamar is layed back, has great views, excellent lunch by the pool, new bathrooms (granite countertops) a tennis courts(2)and a friendly staff(I'm conversant in Spanish, a few speak English and French, an amazing waiter at the pool restaurant speaks Catalan,Castellano,English, French and German,all well) It's on the outskirts of town and up on a hill with approximately a 100+ stone steps from the beach, on the town side, a 10 minute walk to el centro. If you're unfit or have a disability something in town would be a better fit(Playa Sol) The best rooms are bay (bahia de Cadaques)view looking out at the bay and Church. They have terraces. The Ocean views are nice also, but either way go for the top floors for unobstructed water views(some first floor views are of the parking lot) You can hike out to the lighthouse (Cala Nans) or a remote beach just beyond the hotel neighborhood. The beach is listed on some websites as a "naturist" beach. All the beaches in Cadaques (even in the center of town) are top optional, out on the rocks lots of nudistas young and old. For good seafood, Es Baluard and El Pescador are very good.Nightlife is easy to find at the 3-4 bars that stay open late into the night (L'Hostel,Galleon, Casino,La Habana) But keep in mind there are those 100+ steps to get back to your room at Rocamar.

Top Local Tips for Cadaques

Nice Little Restaurants hiden in the streets of Cadaques Try to go to the restaurants that are in the little streets of the village and not only to the ones in the main street. You can find very nice surprises.

Fresh Traditional Seafood Dishes Es Baluard and El Pescador offer some of the best seafood in town.

Salvador Dali Trail Don't miss his house at Port Lligat (5Km)- but you must book in advance. Don't miss the Dali Museum in Figueres (25Km). Go early to avoid queues or book a guided tour at tourist info near museum entrance. This gives a fixed entry time and excellent interpretation of what his mind-blowing works mean ! Many of his works are influenced by Cadaques.
