Great Hotel

My husband and I stayed here in February, 2005 after reading comments on this site. I was very pleased. It's not the center of the action but very easily accessible by metro. The yellow metro stop is is only a few minutes from the hotel and the ride into the city takes about ten minutes. The rooms are very modern and sleek, as is the rest of the hotel. The staff was very pleasant and cooperative. The Diagonal Mall is close by for those who want to shop and it has all the major store such as Zaras, Mango, etc. For the price I thought it was a great deal.

Just returned from 4 days at this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and whenever we had a problem or query this was dealt with straightaway either on the telephone or by a member of staff coming to our room within 3 minutes! We found the hotel to be extremely quiet, maybe too quiet! The Metro was within 5 minutes of the hotel and we found this the quickest way of getting to the centre and Sagrada Familia. There was also a night bus from the centre (no. N6) that stopped just outside the hotel. The Diagonal Mar shopping centre stayed open late on Friday and Saturday nights with lots of restaurants to choose from. Also there is a very large supermarket here. It was very quiet the rest of the time and you would have to go to the centre for the night life. We would definitely go back to this hotel in the future.

We just came back from a long weekend in Barcelona. I chose a hotel outside the centre as we were on a cheap weekend away and got a great deal on the Vincci Maritimo.

The hotel is modern, well presented and very comfortable and they provide an excellent breakfast. The location, outside the main centre, was not a problem at all, in fact I think we preferred it. Only a block walk to a fantastic, and quiet, part of the beach and with a metro and tram stop less than five minutes walk away to take you into the centre. So all good.....

However, on the downside the soundproofing is terrible (stange given that the hotel looks quite new). The staff were only as helpful as they had to be to pass for polite and do not expect a late drink in the hotel bar; we found it closed at 11.00 to 11.15pm, although this may have been because it was not peak holiday season? There is no room service after 11pm and the mini bar/toiletries seem only to be restocked when specifically requested. You will also have to pay to have your shirts etc ironed (at €4.50 a shirt when we visited) as they do not provide these facilities in the rooms.

Overall I don't think we would stay here again, but it was well worth the £56 per night we paid on this visit!

superb value

I visited Brcelona recently with my boyfriend and chose to stay at this hotel. The rooms were great, clean and modern, with excellent bathrooms including a giant shower! Although the hotel is not in the heart of the city the tram, metro lines and cheap taxi rides make it easy to get around. I would advise getting a taxi from the airport to the hotel though as it is awkward to get to, with luggage, by metro.
The hotel is located right next to an architectural park and great shopping centre only five minutes walk away, so theres plenty to do it you do'nt fancy going into town.
Overall it was a great value place to stay and i'll certainly be visiting again.

Great hotel - lovely room, very clean and stylish. Ideal if you're attending an event at the new conference centre as it's within walking distance.
If you're only in Barcelona for the sights and restaurants, then stay nearer the centre,

Very Modern Layout

I went to Barcelona for the first time for my birthday and I have to say I was worried about the fact that the hotel was supposedly 'out of town'. It is, but only 8-10 Euro's by taxi in the evening to get back from the centre when the Metro is closed. It is only a minutes walk from the metro. A very clean and quiet hotel also. Away from the hustle bustle of the centre therefore definitely a great place to sleep as there is no noise outside. I would recommend this to anyone who was wishing to stay somewhere where it is extremely pleasant to return to after a long day/evening. The decor is lovely too, very modern. All in a all a clean and bright hotel perfect for a short break.

Stayed here Dec 2003 for 40th birthday weekend. Excellent choice, very modern hotel. Comfortable rooms with 'pillow menu'. Very clean throughout with friendly staff. Is a little way out of the city centre but as others have mentioned here only two mins walk to metro stop and about 15 mins to centre. Very nice shopping centre nearby where you can mix with the locals. Good choice to take in the beach and site seeing together. Will definitley be going back to this hotel, I have found cheapest prices on easy jet website.

A Fantastic Hotel

We have just come back from our first trip to Barcelona and what a brilliant hotel to have picked. From reading the reviews on here and looking at the photographs on the hotels website we were hoping not to be in for a huge disappointment and we were not. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and modern rooms (which look exactly like they do in the pictures) communal areas were spot on again, we stayed b & b and there was more than enough choice for breakfast. The location of the hotel although on the outskirts was ideal. A five minute walk from the metro and then a ten minute ride to Avenue Diagonal, Las Ramble & most other things of interest. A two minute walk to a fantastic shopping centre with all the shops and eateries you could need and then just a five minute walk to sea for a change of scenery. Would definitely recommend it and cannot wait to return!!

good choice

Usually I stay in the center of Barcelona but this time I stayed outside center and chose Maritimo Hotel. I was surprised. Cute, modern hotel.Easy access to center, 10 minutes by undergoud and a little bit more by bus, there is a night bus too stopping just a few minutes walking from the hotel. The sea is just a few minutes away and I had a sea view room. And the price I got was really good! Definately will stay at this hotel when I am back!

This is the best hotel I have been to in Europe. The location of this hotel is a bit out of town but within 10 minutes walk to the Beach through a modern arcitectural park. Nearest metro was 5 minutes walk. Nearest shopping mall Diagonal Mar 5 minutes walk from hotel, this had all the high street shops you could think off and a supermarket, there is also an area outside and to the rear with restaurants and places to eat. This is an area that where you could never go hungry. We tried the restaurant at the hotel, paella was reasonable at 12 Euros for 2, Buffet Breakfast was 12 Euros and well worth the money a wide variety of fruits, cakes, cold meats, eggs, bacon, sausage, ceral, tea & toasts. No need to eat until dinner after that - I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona.

Top Local Tips for Barcelona

Be prepared Make sure you have pre-paid tickets for public transport - cheaper than single payments

Taxi's and being English Not being able to speak spanish was a problem. Take a card from the hotel reception and keep it in your pocket, show it to the taxi driver and you can't go wrong.
