Top Local Tips for Barcelona

La Qinze Nits People stand and queue for this place as it doesn't take bookings. I'll admit it is swish looking and ticks all the boxes for smart looking staff and nice table linen etc but.....it fast food but on a plate! The menu is extremely reasonable but maybe order two or three starters fto make up a full meal as the mains are a disappointment. Overall it was a bit of a disappointment but the buzz was good.

Train from the airport In February 2008, the overhead walkway/bridge from the Airport terminal was closed. A shuttle bus, located just under the bridge, will take you to the station instead. There was no charge for the train trip, either arriving or departing from Estation Franca, but this may be temporary...! (Something to do with making up to the passengers for previous problems...)

Holy Week: be warned I don't necessarily regret going during Holy Week, but do be aware that Spain takes its Catholicism seriously and many things will be closed. For example, we were excited about eating at Cal Pep, the legendary seafood bar -- it's the kind of restaurant that restaurants in other countries base themselves on to achieve an authentic Catalonian experience -- just a few blocks from our hotel, but it was sadly closed the whole week. My wife didn't get to do all the shopping she'd hoped to do, either. The city isn't completely shut down, but your options might be limited. On the plus side, we did get to see a service at the beautiful Santa Maria del Mar cathedral.
