I really could not fault this hotel. The room was great and the staff were helpful, friendly and polite. This hotel is right in the centre of Las Ramblas - just where you need to be from a tourist point of view.

Loved this hotel!

My husband and I stayed in this hotel after our Mediterranean cruise in August. Before the cruise we had stayed in a different hotel in Barcelona. This hotel was wonderful! The staff were so helpful and they spoke perfect English! The room was so comfortable...we ended up taking too long of a siesta on the fluffy, down comforter and craftmatic adjustable bed! We also were able to relax in the jacuzzi tub and marbled bathroom. What a great find. We will recommend this hotel to everyone! Great location, too!

Great staff, great location, ok rooms.

Just like the title says. Staff was incredibly nice, had great recommendations on where to eat and drink, and even helped us get into a fully-booked restaurant in less than 5 minutes through the owner. Location is great if you like the Rambla. Very busy, touristy, but fun. It's a couple of minutes away from the Gothic quarter anyway, which is quiet and very quaint. Rooms are pretty nice, clean, with jacuzzi. Ask for a room with a view of the street though, as our room faced onto a wall. Would recommend.

s not to love

I spend more than 100 nights in hotels around the world a year, and I can tell all that the Montecarlo is one of the best hotels I had stayed in. First, location is right on the main Rambla street. Staff are very friendly and all speak excellent English. Service is great and room is well furnished. The best of all is that the AC works very well. I like to stay cool and sometimes I even had to turn the fan to low as it blows very cold air.

I would recommend the hotel to any particular to details travelors.

Loved It!

We just got back from a two night stay at the hotel Montecarlo in Barcelona and the room exceeded our expectations. I booked the hotel based on reviews on the Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. The room actually was a suite with a pocket door that separated the bedroom from the sitting area. The large marble bath had a jacuzzi tub. The hotel provides terry cloth bathrooms and slippers in the room for your use.

The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate us when we were trying to find a way to ship packages back home instead of carrying them on the plane. They found boxes, packing material and tape. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Excellent hotel!!!!

We took a 10 week trip through Europe, and this was the best hotel we stayed in. The location was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were beautiful and clean, the beds were comfortable. Robes in the bathroom, free internet. Our whole family loved it!

The best

Just came back (last night) from a trip to Barcelona. We stayed at The Hotel Montecarlo for 3 nights. It was fabulous and, by far, the best hotel of our 14 day trip through Spain. We may have had one of the more expensive rooms (176 Euros per night plus tax) but this was worth it. The room faced the street but the double glass windows muffled all the noise. The furniture was beautiful - very lovely woods. The bathroom had a jacuzzi.
Breakfast was expensive but if you want to eat a full meal (hot and cold foods) then the price might be ok. The service was very attentive. When the staff saw that we went outside to buy the International Herald Tribune, they told us that they had them and that they would save us a copy each day. And they did!

Amazing!

Booked this hotel after reading the reviews on this site. Amazing location, right on Las Ramblas (there are 5 ramblas, this is on the Rambla Cappuccino, about a three-five minute walk from Plaza de Catalunya, where you can catch the metro). Free Internet access as you walk in, great prices for room service and great service in the bar. We met friends there nightly for a drink before going out. Staff couldn't be more helpful. We bought flowers for a friend and dropped them off at the front desk so we didn't have to carry them and they put them in water and held on to them until we came back for drinks that evening. Bathrooms are large and clean--ours had a jacuzzi tub (ask for room 201). View of the Ramlas is great--double glass doors to keep out noise. We had no problems. Radio, CD player, television, AC, minibar, comfortable beds. A+! Oh, breakfast is not included and is around $16 euro. We found great deals at cafes near by for a croissant and coffee for about 3 euro. Be sure to try some of the places off the beaten path. There are great cafes and restaurants to be found just meandering through the streets behind the Ramblas.

Definately worth a visit!

I booked the Hotel Montecarlo off the back of the reviews I had read on trip advisor. I would normally head straight for a four or five star hotel for a short break to ensure we had no issues surrounding the quality of our accomodation. However, the reviews were so positive and the location seemed ideal so we decided to give it a go.
The location is ideal if you want to have a base from which to explore Barcelona on foot. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful (although they wouldn't book a taxi for us, advising us that it would be easier to flag one down outside - which it wasn't!)
Breakfast was excellent, especially the scrambled eggs (just delicious) and there is a great roof patio area where you can lie and soak up some afternoon sun if your husband likes to crash out for a siesta (as mine has a tendancy to do)!
The rooms were clean and smart but a little bit generic for the character of the building. This hotel isn't cheap for a three star property and from looking at the outside of the building I was hoping for a little more character in the rooms.
I was also a little disapointed to find that our room was equipped with two beds pushed together rather than a kings size bed - this is no fun if you are there to celebrate your wedding anniversary!!
This hotel is definately worth a visit as long as you bear these things in mind before booking.

t be Better!!

The best location in Barcelona. Right on the Ramplas, but with double glazing to keep out the noise at night. Very smart rooms with electric beds & powerful jaccuzi baths. Big balcony.
Excellent buffet breakfast (12 sorts of tea!)
Friendly, bi-lingual staff who sort out restaurants, taxis etc.
Very good prices. It's a 3 star because they havn't got a restaurant (there are many, many great restaurants in the area, anyway) and they have no disabled access (although this is being built as we write)
I'd go back tomorrow!

Montserrat is a special experience.... When we departed our cruise ship back in Barcelona we took a half day trip to the religious center at Monserrat. It was a wonderful experience - on reflection we think that it was one of the highlights of our entire trip.
