The Hotel Zenit website gives little indication of the excellence of the Hotel, it's staff and facilities. From a perfectly cleaned en-suite room with daily changes of quality bedding and towels to high quality luxurious beds, choice of pillows and a hairdryer well worth leaving yours at home for girls!. Excellent room service and exquisite food in the restaurant (sadly discovered only 2 days prior to leaving).A three course cordon bleu meal for 15 euros (£10), unbelievable value! Superb waiter service. We could not believe the value for money, we felt there had to be a mistake, but no. Sadly no pool or view but not missed as Barcelona has so much to offer, keeping us on the go from morning to night. The location was blissfully quiet at night resulting in undisturbed sleep. The Hotel is perfectly situated very close to Frances Macia Square, where local buses could be picked up to take you directly to the famous Les Rambles, the Port, extensive beaches and excellent quality shops at Catalunya Square. Yes Barcelona has beaches. Les Rambes and the port are within easy walking distance if preferred. Stopping off for regular cappucinos and lots of window shopping on the way. You can also hire bikes and cycle safely around the city in specially allocated cycle lanes separated from traffic, through treelined pedestrianised walkways. The superb open topped tour buses also available at Frances Macia (2 minutes from the Hotel), kept us enthralled for 2days, getting off and on as we wished, ensuring we visited all the points of interest Barcelona has to offer. From stunning architecture by Gaudi to beautiful hilltop views over the city and enthralling free museums. The incredibly exciting Les Rambles runs down to the Port where you can sit and watch the liners dock and set sail or take a boat trip along to the huge beaches. The sand is quite gritty but beaches are clean, well maintained and the sea is warm and safe to swim with lifeguards in attendance and not a lout in sight. The youth culture there is so far removed from the present trend in the UK. Jump on a no.14 bus and it drops you back right outside the Hotel. The no.36 bus will take you further along the beech if you prefer more privacy. Ample places to eat and drink with prices to surprise. We never once felt we were being ripped off! Don't forget to take the cable car from the port high into the hills overlooking the City. To be able to return to the serenity and luxury of Hotel Zenit each night was an absolute pleasure. We cannot wait to return. Hotel Zenit need to redesign their website as it in no way indicates the wonderful experience that awaits its lucky occupants. Loved every moment! Excellent value for money all around.
