Stayed with my wife for 7 nights september 2004. 1st room offered was dire, asked for better room and got one (maybe 10 euro note played a part). nice staff, good stay, breakfast boring, great location.

Top Local Tips for Barcelona

autumn or spring The weather can get VERY hot in Summer. Mid October was about 20 - 22 degrees by day with only one day of rain in 7 days (and this horrified locals as it was so unusual) Keep to the main streets or (L) side streets off the Ramblas...the ones to the right behind the market are a bit dodgy at night....but okay by day. This city location probably wouldn't suit kids or pets.

Sagrada Familia Don't bother going in - at the moment it is literally a building site with bags of cement etc all over the central area. Cannot climb the towers - need to use the lift which has a 90 minute wait! Just enjoy looking from outside

La Ramblas is overrated! Don't spend too much time on La Ramblas - restaurants are not too good and touristy, and the street actually does not look that good! Spend you time admiring modernist architecture and see more Gaudi buildings.
