One of the best hotels I have stayed in at a good price the rooms are clear and trendy, and the service is very good, I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel itself is very nice. Stylish decor. A great location. But the staff ruined my stay for me. We had planned to stay one night at Hotel Jazz and then travel down to Sitges. But upon waking up on the day that we were supposed to check out, we decided we wanted to spend two more nights in Barcelona. I called the front desk and asked if we could stay for two more nights. The woman told us no problem. After a day of sightseeing we arrived back at the hotel to find that our card key to our room did not work. We inquired at the front desk. Apparently the computer had checked us out. While one clerk checked on the matter, another walked over to inform us that if we wanted to stay the night, we would have to pay a higher rate (40 euro higher) and that it was "impossible" for us to stay the next night. We informed him that we had cancelled our reservation in Sitges after being told that we could stay two more nights. After much back and forth, this very unpleasant man agreed to call the woman that we had spoken to that morning to confirm that we had been told that we could stay two more nights. He picked up the phone, spoke to someone is Spanish, then turned to the other clerk and said "OK." No apology. Just attitude.

Lovely, well-placed hotel

A very nice hotel in a great location about five minute's walk from Las Ramblas. If you are travelling to Barcelona in the Summer the rooftop pool is a must, I didn't think the beach was great. The pool is only open from 10.00 to 20.00 so no early morning or late night swimming. There is a very faint rumble audible once the metro starts running but most people will leave their rooms at this point to see the city. The metro stops at around midnight so it shouldn't impinge on your sleep. I found the staff helpful and they spoke a little English which was very usefull. A lot of the Catalans seem to speak some English and are normally pretty friendly. The city itself is beautiful and well worth visiting and I would recommend this hotel as an ideal base from which to see the city. Ignore the bad reviews and don't eat in the Hard Rock Cafe as it's terrible. But there is a Starbuck's nearby!

Be Sure to Use the Tub!

What a wonderful hotel. Textbook "boutique" (so expect small), the Jazz is brand new and therefore pristine. Rooms were too hot until I was able to figure out the thermostat (ask for help...it is not intuitive). Great linens, decor, and bathroom...be sure to take a bath...one of the BEST. Rooftop pool is a must. Did not eat there...but why would someone visiting other than on business eat at the hotel? Get out and experience the wonder that is Barcelona...greatest city in the world! HIGHLY recommend.

This hotel is reall fab-we had searched alot for hotels before going and all of them seemed really over priced for the standard but this hotel is great value with excellent standard(we booked with veneer which is a good site).The decor of the room is beautiful and very modern and the beds are huge!The staff are professional and helpful.very accommodating.The roof top solarium is gorgeous eventhough the pool is only for cooling off-dont leave the hotel without checking it out!
We stayed for 5 nights altogether on two different ends of our week away-the first 3 nights on the 7th floor and the 2nd 2 nights on the 5th floor-each was equally lovely-you can hear a very distant rumbling of a train but only if you listen out for it (i was trying to listen for it because of an earlier review i'd read!)
The location is so good-5 mins from las ramblas yet you dont feel like you're in a really touristy area-there's a lovely tapas bar across the street which is well worth trying out especially if you find 12 euro per person a bit steep for breakfast in the hotel! and the "tourist bus" for sight seeing stops outside the hotel!
We loved this place and will go back there when we're in barcelona again.

We stayed for six nights at the Hotel Jazz and we had a great time. It was the best 3* hotel I've ever been in! The rooms have the 'wow' factor upon entering, and the bathrooms are great. They've definitely succeeded on creating a boutique hotel for people on a tighter budget.

We found the service really good, and the staff very helpful, and sitting on the roof terrace with drinks, overlooking the city was a holiday highlight.

It's really well located, too.

The only criticism, if I were to have one, is that the pool is quite small and shallow. But this is made up for because it's pretty darned good for a 3* city hotel to have a pool at all, and it's always good fun cooling off at skyscape level!

Great Hotel for the price

Spent two nights at the hotel jazz. The staff was great and the decor of the hotel is really nice.
Think of the W Hotels but without the heavenly bed.
The location is very central. The only down side was that the pool was only 4-5 ft deep. So swimming was not really possible.

The hotel was booked at very short notice (there was a food festival on) Everything was brilliant the staff the decor and its position was very central. We would visit again and certainly recommend it!

great little hotel, bad service

i will have to agree with the previous review and say that service is definitely lacking at this hotel. most of the staff is not very helpful. for example, i asked if there were any little towns they recommended my boyfriend and i travel to for day trips - the lady at the front desk took out a card and scribbled the names of a couple of places and that was that. gee, do i know how to get there? maybe it would help if i knew which train or bus to take? someone forgot to tell the staff that working in a hotel entails providing services to your guests. we also waited a year and day for our hotel room and the gentleman who was arranging for our room was very forgetful about checking on it. however, that's not to say that everyone at the hotel is a clueless, unhelpful daydreamer. there was one gentleman who was really friendly and ready to help. during our stay there, he got a new hair style - he's shaven his head bald. so, don't bother asking anyone for anything unless he's bald.

on a more positivie note, the hotel's location is great. it's just a couple of blocks from plaza catalunya and las ramblas - close to metros and buses. i did hear a slight rumbling now and then, but not to the extent that it would disturb my sleep. my boyfriend didn't notice it and he's the kind of person that would. then again, we were in 4th floor room facing the inner courtyard so maybe it wasn't as bad. the rooms are a decent size and everything is very modern and clean, including the bathroom.

we were lucky we didn't need a lot of help from the hotel as we had friends who live in town. if you're traveling to barcelona for the first time and don't plan on doing on a lot of research on your own, this may not be the right place for you. for me, i wouldn't mind staying here again if i could get the same rate.

i definitely wouldn't spend $200 a night on the room though. i booked this hotel for 100 euros a night which i thought was a great deal considering the location and how nice the hotel is compared to other 3*. for $200 a night, you should consider getting bancotel coupons and staying at the majestic on paseig gracia for 150 euros or other 4/5* hotels for the same rate with the coupons.

The worst and most unaccommodating staff!!

The Hotel Jazz has the worst customer service I've ever encountered! After reading the good reviews on this website (I should have paid more attention to the bad reviews), I booked a room at this hotel. I walked into the hotel and attempted to maneuver my heavy luggage down a flight of stairs in the hotel lobby towards the reception desk. Despite the fact that they were not busy helping other guests (the lobby was empty), none of the three men behind the desk made any attempt to help me (an obviously small girl with very big luggage). Then, sleeping was a problem because there was a consistent rumble and vibration that came every 10 minutes (I suspect it was the metro). On my last morning, I woke up late because the rumbling noise kept me up most of the night. I called reception to ask for a late check-out of 20 minutes...yes, only TWENTY minutes and was told NO! They claimed they had a lot of people checking in and needed the room right away. It's ridiculous that they could not spare the room for 20 minutes, especially for a guest who could not sleep because of noise resulting from the location of the hotel. I looked out in the hall and despite the fact that it was already 11:55 a.m., the maids were not yet on my floor and no one had knocked on my door that morning, so I know they had not yet reached my room. There was no way the maids were going to reach my room within the next 25 minutes. The staff simply did not want to be accommodating. I quickly threw all my stuff into my luggage and as I was walking out the door at 12:10 (keep in mind that check-out is at noon), the phone ran. It was front desk asking whether I was going to check out or whether I wanted to pay for the additional night. It was absolutely ridiculous and the worst customer service ever. One of the main aspects of a comfortable stay is that the staff cares about you and tenders to your needs. This was completely lacking at the Hotel Jazz. They got me in the door, got my $200/night, and that's all they cared about. I plan to be in Barcelona again soon, but that was my last time at the Hotel Jazz. Don't make the same mistake as me -- heed the warnings contained in the bad reviews on this website.

My husband and I recently visited Barcelona and booked into the Jazz Hotel which we booked online. After booking online before and been disappointed it was a nice surprise to see that the accomodation actually looked like the photos we had seen on the net. The hotel was spotless and had a nice modern feel. It was also in a very good location, just 5 minutes walk from La Ramblas and close to the metro.

Top Local Tips for Barcelona

Batllo Family house by Gaudi Ít´s the one Gaudi thing you should do if you´re not inclined to fight the mob scene at the cathedral. The house is very unusual and unique and shows Gaudi at his best. If you go at 10, when it opens, you´ll have a very pleasant experience. It´s worth the 16.50 E.

Attic, Las Ramblas Worst food and wine I have tasted ever in about 20 odd countries I have visited ... including dodgy street food in India!!

t-10 T-10 tickets can be bought at the metro stations, they're good for up to 10 trip and can be used by more than one person at the time; all you need do is pass the card through the machine the same number of times as the number of people travelling.
