Wonderful Hotel with wonderful views. We had a room with a terrace and cathedral views and it was wonderful. The room was a little outdated and musty but once we opened the doors to the balcony and got some air it was quite nice.

'Cathedral view' obscured!

Stayed 4 nights at this hotel, prebooked, paying premium for 'cathedral view' room. The hotel facilities and service were OK, and the view over the plaza in front of the cathedral is lively and interesting. However, the cathedral itself is virtually covered in scaffolding, with only the spire being visible! There is a hefty premium payable for the so-called 'cathedral view', so I think it is less than honest of the hotel to make no mention (on their website, say) whatever of the fact that the view is in fact virtually totally obscured. When I mentioned this fact to them, they simply shrugged if off, evidently seeing it as no problem of theirs. I would think the scaffolding will be in place for months, if not years.

Poor Hotel

Good location but bad hotel! The room looks nothing like the photos. The carpet is old, we had problems with the radiator (too hot, hotel slow to fix), the telephone, doorman, etc. Regarding the doorman, we arrived with lots of luggage and a small child; the doorman turned around and did not help us, probably because one first has to climb stairs to get to reception. Overpriced for what you get. Plus, they tried to sell us on a room overlooking the cathedral and we arrived to find the cathedral completely covered do to renovation! Awful.

Luxury & quiet & location

The colon was perfect for shopping sighseeing and steeping yourself in the location. The hotel was in central Barcelona near the metro. It is across the street from the medieval cathedral and 2 minutes from Las Ramblas, the historic pedestrian esplanade. We were given the best suite in the hotel and it was half the price of our hotel in Paris. The staff was discreet courteous and helpful. Our school-aged children enjoyed the hotel too.

Beautiful hotel!

Excellent location. You get the feel how it would have been hundreds of years ago. Very romantic location around the hotel. Cathedral bells, echoing music in the square directly in front of the hotel. Lights at night from cafe's. Rooms are small and old fashioned but clean. Architecture of the building is beautiful and the service is good. I would stay again just to have the experience of the location at night. When you exit the hotel you are immediately in the heart of Barcelona.
