Nice Hotel
Stayed at the Caledonian for a four night city break in the first week in April 2007. Staff polite, room very pleasant and clean. Not affected by building work next door. Good breakfast. The hotel is very well located and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Noise and construction
There was construction starting at 8:00am sharp. Loud banging. I asked for a discount, for a room change. Got nothing. Not friendly, not helpful. Location ok, and rooms are clean. But the place isn't worth it...cuz if you are out late (which everyone is in Barcelona) you can't even sleep past 8:00am

Instead, we received very rude treatment and were not given information about the hotel (the name of the manager, the name of the owner) when we asked. Additionally, the liquid on the steps remained there for days; clearly, nobody in the hotel went to go see what had happened on the steps and so it remained a hazard for others! Also, the main elevator was in and out of service, and when we asked what to do (mother on crutches), the desk clerk said, "you'll have to take the steps." When my mother reminded her that she couldn't get up the steps with crutches, the desk clerk just shrugged. We had a miserable experience there. You'd think that when a person falls on YOUR steps, you'd go out o...Read more
