Top Local Tips for Barcelona

Huge variety In four days we didn't do lots of the things we'd intended! We didn't do much around the shore or visit the olympic complex. We went to the Picasso museum but missed the Miro. We were enchanted by the Gaudi that we saw, Park Guell, Sagrada Samilia and the Casa Batllo. You need a good map and a plan of action for each day that you are there! A lighning tour could be made by buying a ticket for the tourist bus if you don't have time to walk - later in the year it could be a bit hot to do it our way!

A great network You should try to use the bus and metro network of Barcelona, now complemented with a few tram lines, to get around, rather than taxis (which are ideal for groups, though). They have nice stations, well signed, and there's an area map in every stop to find your way to closest monuments, etc.

Mondays Many attractions are closed on Mondays. Try using the Metro and the mainline trains. They are very good and pretty cheap. Th e"fountains" display near espanya is very good and you canget there by Metro very easily but it is not on every evening !
