If I except the room, a little bit too small, all is perfect in this hotel. I appreciated mainly the design and the quality of the personel!
No rooms for disabled

No rooms for disabled in this hotel, no claim sheets, no help at all. The rooms they call for disabled are individual and no big enough.

Rooms very small!! No place for even 1 person!! It is a joke hotel. No kettle. Very unpolite service.

Historical Traveller Reviews of H10 Universitat Hotel

Loved it!

from jenwa
My bofriend and I stayed here for a long weekend in April for our 21st birthday's and we could not fault this hotel at all!
Firstly, it's in an excellent location for the aerobus and for placa catalunya-where you get the bus turistic- which is a must, as you see so much of Barcelona and it's onlt 18 euros each. We did the Red and Blue routes on the saturday.
On arrival we were given a glass of cava and the reception staff were very helpful. The room was fantastic, we did not find the room to be too small at all, as is posted in other reviews. The decor is very modern in the whole hotel, and the shower was huge!
The mini bar is big enough to fit your own small bottles of water in and we also bought a bottle of cava and that fitted in aswell! Which was great!
The bed was very comfortable and we did not find it to be too hard. I thought the buffet breakfast in the hotel was fantastic, there was so much choice! They definately cater for every taste, there was your usual fry up, cereals, meats, pastries, fresh fruit and even sushi! The restaurant was very nice inside also.
As this was our first time to this city and we didn't know anyone who had been there before we found the reception staff to be extremely helpful in recommending somewhere to eat and to make reservations for us. We ate at some amazing places, we came across this restaurant called 7 portes by accident and it served the best food we ate there! The veal cannalloni and paella were excellent! After we got home we looked it up and it turns out to be one of the best hotels in spain! Agua was also a very good restaurant.
The bar/restaurant CDLC was incredible-never been anywhere like it! We stopped there for some afternoon cocktails-have a mojito, they were delicious!- It's down near Hotel Arts, which is a nice area as it's so different from the city centre and it was really nice to be at the beach as the weather was scorching!
While we were in Barcelona, a grand derby match was on-unfortunately in Madrid though- and a taxi driver recommended the Michael Colllins Irish Bar to watch it, there was such a good atmosphere, even though Barcelona lost! The bar was beside the Sangrada Familia, so we got to see it at night - we'd already seen it during the day as we walked up it, which was terrifying but worth it!-
Overall, we both had such a fantastic time and as i've been to Florence, Rome and several other places, this city is by far the best i've ever been to. There's so much to do for every age group. Anyone our age will it, so many cool bars and clubs to go to. This was a great time of year to go and we are already planning when we can go back again, as there was so much stuff we still want to do-such as the helicopter ride over the city- We'll definately be going back to this hotel though, the staff were so friendly and the Hotel couldn't have been in a better location. We really didn't want to leave!
Also, if you're going on a wekkend break, don't do what we did and decide to have Sunday as a shopping day as everything is closed! We ended up going to the beach that day though, which turned out to be the best day we had.

Good Hotel, Location and Price

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed in this hotel for a few nights in April 2005. Great location especially if you use the Aerobus from the airport. Get off at the Universitat stop and the hotel is a few minutes walk. Very central for Place Catalunya, Las Ramblas and all other major tourist attractions. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. Bedroom very clean and comfortable. Good bathroom facilities, with loads of complimentary 'smellies' etc. Free high-speed interet access in hotel lobby is useful for checking e-mails and local info. Staff helpful and friendly. Restaurant has a decent menu but a bit expensive compared to what you can get out-and-about in the city itself. Given good location, good price and good standard of accommodation, I would recommend this hotel.

Good modern hotel in the center of Barcelona

from A TripAdvisor Member
The H10 Universitat is a modern hotel located near "las ramblas" and the "barrio gothico".

Rooms are very modern in style and the service is excellent. The whole hotel is very clean and very well run.

Unfortunately, as it is often the case in downtown hotels, there is no view and the rooms are very little and you have to store all your suitcases under the bed. I have a look at the map of my floor (2nd) and I see that all the rooms where of the same size except 2 with twin beds.

H10 is a very good hotel anyway but as a tourist, I'd prefer the H10 Raco del Pi which is within the "barrio gothico".

Terrific location & new property. Rooms were nicely appointed, including complementary, in room, high speed internet connection.

Breakfast buffet, a little pricey, though. Nice bar.

Wonderful desk personnel.

Great City Break.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Universitat Hotel for my husbands birthday and had a great tine - the location is excellent and quiet. We booked a junior suite (they have 2) which was on the top floor and had a sitting area and large balcony (no furniture on it but it was March!) and we were glad we did as looking at the floor plan other rooms seemed to have only just enough room to walk around the bed. Very modern moninal decor and we found the bed pretty hard.
Staff were great, very friendly and helped with recommendations for restaurants which was good as we found there weren't a lot of places we fancied eating in within walking distance (certainly not on Ramblas). Having said that, you must go to the Marketplace on Ramblas for lunch! Fabntastic range of produce and there are several little areas where you can eat with the locals if you feel brave - just watch what they do! Really fresh calamaris, sardines etc. (& beer).
Overall, we found Ramblas incredubly busy and touristy and there are some quite ropey places just off the main drag - be conscious of keeping tight hold of your belongings. The marina is nice if you go to the old part (turn left at the bottom of Ramblas). Take the Bus Touristica as the attractions are quite spread out (they do 3 different tours and the 2 day pass is good value).
Finally, we had a really good time but in our opinion, if you are wavering over where to go for a city break we would recommend Rome or Paris over Barcelona as they just seem more compact and personable somehow.

fantastic location and hotel

from brisbane_familyof5
My husband and I stayed at the H10 Universitat hotel in Barcelona for a weekend in March this year. As previous reviews have noted, it is a newly renovated hotel with great service and breakfast. The only downside was that the rooms were small and there was not a lot of baggage space. Our room looked across onto another building in a back alleyway. We had an internet deal for 70 EUR per night including buffet breakfast, which was a great price for a 4 star hotel. I think it still would have been good value at a higher price. Regarding the bathroom, the walls and door are of frosted glass that cannot be seen through. (I am very conscious of these things!!) The bathroom itself was lovely and spacious compared to the bedroom!! Room was always clean and everything looked new. Breakfast included hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit and pastries. Lovely. Hotel looked after luggage on the day of check-out until that evening when we returned prior to our flight.
Location is especially good as one of the airport buses stops at Placa Universitat , on the street the hotel is on, 2-3 minutes walk to the hotel. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas, so easy to get there to get the bus back (we couldn't find a bus to the airport from Placa Universitat). Location is also good as is away from the hectic Las Ramblas, no problems with noise.

Stylish but very small rooms

from rkb
This was the most stylishly decorated building I have ever been in. Staff were nice. Well furnished. Spotlessly clean. Perfect location for the Ramblas.
However I booked the room through a website which said it would have a sitting area. We were put in this tiny room no sitting area, and just enough space to walk around the bed. When I showed the reservation to the management, they said they didn't have any bigger rooms, but they did - I could see from the evacuation plan. They blamed the website and didn't offer me any money off the bill.
Another problem was the bathroom was divided from the room only by a glass door, so there was no real privacy for the person using the bathroom.

Fantastic Hotel - Book It!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just back from a 4 night stay (Feb '05) at this hotel. Used the recommendations on Tripadvisor to pick this hotel, and was not dissapointed at all.
In fact don't even look at any other reviews - just book it. This hotel is in a great location (not even 5min. walk from La Ramlas) The hotel itself is a GEM. Great staff, great bar (cheaper than ANYWHERE on La Ramblas), great breakfast, great room (so clean and excellent beds and shower).
Honestly, i have stayed in many places around the world (New york/Vegas/LA etc), and believe me for the money you will not get better in barcelona. JUST BOOK IT.
Only thing we were dissapointed with regarding the trip was La Rambla - all the bars and food places around this area were very dirty, grubby, and expensive.
back to the hotel, honest you won't get a better hotel in as good a location, anywhere in barcelona - BOOK IT!!!

Great hotel, great location, great breakfast!!!!!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I just spent 6 nights at this great hotel. Just a few steps from Catalonya Plaza, it is perfectly located for access to all the main sights, metro down the block, Ramblas 5 minute walk, train to Feugues. Fantastic breakfast buffet included in the rate. Beautifully clean rooms. Just great!!!

Absolutely A Good choice!!

from mayneberlin
I must say I would strongly agree with every point of review that is posted here. The rooms are stylish and so CLEAN, so Comfortable! We also ask for a room facing the streets (611) and we had our best nites there. And not to miss out the toilet. It is covered using matt glass frames. Chic and nice. I would definitely stay again.

Top Local Tips for Barcelona

Airport Bus If you're staying around Placa Catalunya or other stops of the Airport Bus, don't hesitate to take it. It was 3.50Euro pp each way, and the route was pretty much direct. You'd pay 35Euro each way for a taxi. Just go outside the airport and find the bus stops.

Transport The metro, buses, taxis are all really efficient and economical ways to get around this very enjoyable city.

bus Airport bus is very easy to use and drops you in central tourist district if you want to save a few euros on cost of taxi.
