Location, location, location!
from stevenghavbus shuttle service (11 EUROS PER PERSON) to Estacio d`Autobusos Nord- journey takes about 1 hour.As we were staying in the Barri Gotic district, we decided that a taxi ride would be best. Remember to ask for a price before the journey starts (should be around 5 EUROS).Raco Del Pi hotel was found after short walk from Las Ramblas and staff greeted my wife and I with glasses of Cava. Our first floor room was not the biggest we stayed in, but everything seemed in place. We opted out of the breakfast available at Raco Del Pi and chose to eat locally each morning. This was a great move as there was a terrific cafe just across from the hotel, busy with locals as well as tourists- don`t miss it!
Barcelona is a great experience: jump on Bus Turistic and see city highlights(2 DAY PASS GREAT VALUE)Please remember that just because your are British and you don`t mind waiting in line that our Continental cousins share this etiquette!!!! Viva La Elbow!!Use voucher book to gain discounted admissions to city attractions-our high point has to be La Pedrera with its fab roof top views and great photo opportunities.
Summing up, Barcelona is the perfect 2-3 day city break. Food and drink is much better than expected: try places where locals frequent for best results.Hotel and location were ideal and would visit again on our return.
Not all it seems
from rdcockerThe breakfast service is very good. I have to admit that of all the B&Bs I have been to, this is one of the best. The dining room is very comfortable and modern, and the choice of food is good. You can get your full English (except for the sausages which are never as good abroad), continental, cereals and a whole host of fruit. The quality of the food is good as well. Often, otherwise decent B&Bs really let themselves down by serving up stale bread buns and rock-hard croissants. The food here seems very fresh indeed. Another good point is that breakfast is served till about 10.30, much later than most.
The location is what I was primarily interested in when I booked this hotel. Its located on a little side-street just off the infamous "Las Ramblas", which is extremely popular with Barcelona tourists. The hotel is nearer the north end of Las Ramblas, further away from the harbour than other hotels I was considering. THIS WAS A VERY GOOD THING, because at around dusk, the nearer you progress towards the harbour, the more decidedly dodgey Las Ramblas and its side-streets become. I had heard this before I came here, but did not believe it......believe me...its true!!
So far, so good! Why have I rated this hotel as just OK? No doubt our stay at the hotel was pleasant, and we had a great time in Barcelona. I rate this hotel as just 'OK' because their after-sale service was appalling!! I had the misfortune of leaving my wallet in a taxi from Raco Del Pi to the coach station. This was entirely my fault. I noticed this straight after being dropped off by the taxi, and called the hotel who had booked the taxi so that they may inform the driver. They fobbed me off and didn't even attempt to contact the driver. When I finally got back to the UK I called them again and they told me it was my fault (which I admit, it was) and they could not help. I emailed them again and again. They wouldn't even tell me which taxi company it was that they used (even though they knew which one it was). I know its unlikely I would ever have seen my wallet again, but their attitude stunk. Not only were they unhelpful, but they were positively rude. They'd got my money, so "why should they care?" This completely soured my feeling towards the company and I will not return to them.
So, if you don't intend needing their services in the event of a minor crisis once you have parted with your hard earned cash, this is actually a rather good place to stay in Barcelona. But, be warned!! If you ever require anything which isn't obliged of them as a result of paying to stay in their hotel........you get the message!
Great hotel, great location, great service
from croakeyExcellent location

from Nell59Got a really good deal from last minute.com - 62 a night b/b. After reading some of the reviews we requested a large lower floor room with windows! we got a lovely large room on the second floor (202) with a large bathroom with a jaccuzi bath. However it did face the front and if you like to have a 'siesta' you may have trouble sleeping as a boutique across the road had music playing all day.
But we did not find it noisy at night (maybe different in the summer months)
unfortunately we picked the week Barcelona had freezing cold weather but we braved sitting on top of the tour bus taking in all the beauty of this city. Highlights for us were discovering all the narrow streets and squares of the gothic area and Parc Guell.
Would definately stay at this Hotel again.
great location
from A TripAdvisor MemberIt is at the more expensive end of the market but I think it is worth paying the extra money. Some parts of the Gothic quarter (like other major cities) can be a bit dingy and have streets that I wouldn't want to walk down at night. This was not the case with the Raco del Pi the street is well lit, fairly busy with evening walkers and was well away from the (as the guide books puts it) dodgy end of town.
Overall a great hotel, good value for money & great location. For a short break it's perfect.
Nice, but dark room

Casa Batllo Most guide books say that this beautiful house ,Gaudis best in our opinion,is a private residence. Not any more! You can visit most of it now and it was the highlight of our trip.
Beware of being conned Ifr approached by men saying they are plain clothes policemen have a very good look at their identification
Aerobus The Aerobus is easy and very cheap 3.75 euros for a single trip to and from the airport , buses leave regulary and drop you off in Place de Catalunya which is very central, to either walk to your hotel or catch Metro, bus or Taxi.
