Do not stay in this hotel! There is no way this hotel deserves four stars. I had no water in the shower - two days in a row! The staff would not help me (reception staff hardly speaks English) or allow me to change rooms. I had to shower in a colleague's room the first day and did not shower the second day. Some rooms (mine!) are ridiculously small - I didn't even have any room to put my suitcase down. In addition I couldn't control the heat in my room: I slept with an open window and ranging heater. I was in Barcelone for a conference and would expect a four star hotel to have internet wifi and a desk in each room, but no. Furthermore, it was noisy. When I complained at check-out, I was completely ignored.

So:
- no water to shower
- tiny rooms
- no climat control
- noise
- unfriendly & incapable staff.

Stolen passport from room

I stayed 4 nights the hotel seemed ok. Only I left my passport in the room and upon leaving realised it had been stolen. The hotel was not interested even though it could only have gone if someone had a room key. I had no guests and never left the room open neither did I ever take the passport out the room! I was stunned by the hotels indifference.

Bus Touristic Use the Bus Touristic to see the whole of Barcelona. Open top bus with multi-lingual commentary costing 19 Euros for 1 day, 23 Euros for 2 days. (Spring 2007 prices).You can hop on/off to visit places of interest. Buses run every 10 minutes. The city is too big to see everyting by any other means - this is a great way to get your bearings on Day One and see all of this beautiful city in a totally relaxed manner.

Buses The buses and transport system including taxis is good and inexpensive

Altogether a safe & friendly tourist destination Pickpockets seem to be the biggest problem. Don't get distracted easily by people asking for directions, selling goods and of course, mind the crowds when you stand to watch a street performance. Don't carry your passport and extra money with you, unless tucked inside a money belt. Generally, a safe and friendly city. We loved the people for their kind nature.
