Top Local Tips for Barcelona

Arriving by ship at Barcelona Arriving by cruise ship? Avoid the long lines for a taxi. Take the bus shuttle to the Monument at the foot of La Rambla. Then take a taxi from there to your hotel. With 3500 passengers debarking it took us 2 hours to get a taxi (6 Euros - about $10) to get to the same place which I believe was quoted at about 1.10 Euros.

Travel On arrival at Barcelona airport there are many taxis awaiting like most airports. These will cost appx 15 - 25 Euros to the city centre. If you aim for the train station inside the airport the trains runs very frequently and will cost between 2-4 euros. Its a basic station with a small kiosk to purchase your ticket so a litttle spanish will be an advantage but not essential. The stop in Barcelona city centre brings you out 100yrds from the main square at the top of Las Ramblas. Here you will find more taxis and buses if your accomodation is not within walking distance. Wear comfortable shoes, there is alot to see!
