You can listen to other peoples reviews, but I can honestly say that when we went here, it was the best holiday ever! You don't really have to pay for the sun loungers...you just have to pay for a small exrta price for the cushion on there if you really do want one. The hotel was clean! Our rooms were cleaned by the maids every day. The pool was sometimes a tad cold, but you would soon get used to it after a while! I went on holiday with 2 toddlers...4 30+s and me. Every one loved this budget holiday. When you arrive outside the hotel, it almost takes your breath away on how nice it is.
The food was so lovely...it has ranges of food you could find where you came from...but also adventurous food you could find there in Spain. Lovely 3 cousrses if wanted. The only downside to this is that you have to pay for drinks, but there is a supermarket shop a few doors down from the hotel so there is a easy way to get other foods and drinks.
The people that worked there were all so friendly and they LOVE younger children...even when we walked past a maid she would say OOLA and gave the children a lollipop each! The kids club is lovely too..not the average club..they actually do stuff the children WANT to join in with. The rooms are very clean and tidy. There are acces to the computers...(1 euro a 10min) there are a big deep pool and a child pool with a mushroom shower in...there is also a park at the hotel that the children all seem to enjoy. I must advice you to visit the English pub near by called the Drunken Duck. I hope you enjoy your stay as I know I did!

I visited Aqua Montagut, Santa Susanna, in August 2007, with my boyfriend. We are both 20, and were seeking a relaxing but not boring holiday, which we definitely got from the Montagut. We arrived late at night, at the hotel, greeted by very pleasant and helpful 24hour reception staff, who despite not having the best English were very helpful and obliging. Our room overlooked the swimming pool, and had a reception/sitting room, with a sofa bed, tv (bbc world, cnn, and german mtv that usually had english shows on), some wardrobe space and a dressing table. There is a seperate bedroom (two single beds, which we were slightly disappointed with as had hoped we would have a double bed like the one in the photographs), a bedside table, and wardrobes. The bathroom had a bath with shower, toilet and washbasin, and was a good size. The bedding and towels were changed every day by the pleasant cleaners. The apartment is airconditioned well, and felt cool at all times (just make sure you shut the balcony french doors and the bedroom windows properly - otherwise the aircon will not work). The minibar/fridge was empty on arrival (I assume they fill it when you pay for the contents), and because the prices seemed quite a lot to fill it, we visited the small shop next door to the hotel, which sold very reasonable food and drinks, and we continued to fill the fridge from there all week. The hotel is on quite a quiet road, which has a couple of pub/restaurants and shops on it, and had a nice, quiet atmosphere. We paid for bed and breakfast and I'm glad we didn't have full board in the hotel, because as with most hotels, the breakfast had a large variety but was pretty poor, and we only took advantage of the free breakfast on the first morning and didnt bother for the rest of the week. We also had dinner there one night and were also not impressed. However, for us this led to us exploring Santa Susanna more, and we found some gorgeous places to eat at, all very cheap, from British owned pubs and Burger King to more Spanish restaurants on the main street of Santa Susanna where we tried gorgeous food including lots of Paella. Everyone in the restaurants and shops spoke good English, which was nice, and we did not have one disappointing meal (most food places are open late too which is great). The hotel entertainment was rather noisy and went on quite late, and we didn't fancy going to see it, or having a noisy night in, so most nights we explored the shops and bars, and the gorgeous market (great for fake designer things girls!), which is a brilliant atmosphere. We saw no sign of drunks or aggressiveness from anyone (even at 2/3am) and it is great for families and couples, if they want to avoid the hotel entertainment (which most hotels seem to have in the area). One disadvantage of the hotel was that early in the mornings (around 9am) the pool area hosts a children/entertainment aerobics and dance class thing (not sure what exactly it was!!) with EXTREMELY loud music and this disturbed us every morning, after coming into the hotel in the early hours. However we got used to this, and the children all seemed to enjoy it (just a little early and noisy for those couples without children). It also got us up early to explore so I suppose we should be grateful! The pool area seemed ample (however it wasnt heated when we were there - owch!) and the sunloungers were free to lie on, and was never too crowded to get them. The kids club staff were nice and asked everyone if they would like to join in the games, but were not pushy if you just wanted to sunbathe. They played gamessuch as ping pong and water volleyball, which went down well with all the children on the resort. The balcony was a nice place to sit on in the evening (we had a burger kind takeaway and sat there for the night) which was lovely if you do not mind hearing the entertainment. Be sure to check out the British pubs while you are there, they are all lovely, and do not let shop sellers force products on to you, you can always haggle a bargain with them! Santa Susanna train station is 10 mins walk, and takes around 40mins directly to Barcelona, the hotel staff will advise you and give you maps etc. If you want to catch your soaps check out the Rovers Return Inn, which shows them all! Thats all I can say really, lovely hotel, lovely rooms, lovely pool, lovely staff, just slight noise from entertainment. Would definitely recommend! Thank you!

I have recently stayed at this hotel with my partner and baby. The staff were friendly but their english was very poor. We also noticed some members of staff were making remarks in spanish about some of the british people. We found it outragous that we had to pay for our drinks with our meals and also to use the sumloungers in the hotel when it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel.
The evening entertainment was very unsuitable for children. The music was very loud and goes on till midnight. The was a show for kids where a girl was parading around on stage in a thong!
The cleaners did not change our bedsheets while we were staying there. We requested a cot for our baby which we never recieved. our electicity cut off and no one came up to fix it. It was only when we told the cleaner a few hours later, she fixed it.
The only good thing about this hotel was the buffet meals.
The weather was realy nice.......

Originally reserved room at 3* Bella Playa. Due to road works unable to find entrance and difficulty in parking vehicle necessary to drag cases through mud.. Rooms were 2*.. Arranged to move to Montagut.. Nice rooms. Poor bar. The reception staff despite several late night complaints, were totally unable or unwilling to deal with the noisy adult rabble with there unruly children from Barcelona who persisted in making a lot of noise by the pool up to m/n each weekend Guests from adjacent 4* hotel balconies were also shouting objections to the noise. Food 2* No paella. extra chages for hotel safe and parking(security lights unlit).only 1 of 4 English T.V.chanels worked. Restaurant drinks prices exhorbitant. Reception staff were rude when discount requested due to problems and costs

We went on a last minute deal about 2 months before so we were very nervous as to where we were going. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and clean but let me just say that it did cost us a fortune there. The Montagut hotel is actually a 4 star hotel because it has 4 stars on the outside as its in the brochure as a 3 star. I think it is terrible when you are half board + 4star and you have to pay for really expensive drinks with your meals. with it being a 4 star hotel I would of thought you got drinks included. There wasnt much for children to eat either unless they eat chips everyday! Also you had to pay to use the fridge in your room which in a 4 star hotel I think is disgusting. On the first day on drinks alone and we didnt have much alcohol I think we spent roughly about 100 Euros!! The hotel was swarming with children and alot of them were really young so you couldnt really have a relaxing swim or anything so I wouldnt advise this if you want a peaceful, quiet holiday! Me and my partner had single beds and we were in a room above a road and then a car park. There isnt that much to do outside the hotel apart from spending money! There is a fantastic cruise you can go on but everything you do costs alot of money. Very good service in hotel and very clean. Overall was glad we stayed there but would have preffered a hotel that didnt have screaming children all day though!
