Top Local Tips for Barcelona

Pickpockets in Las Ramblas We walked fast to discourage pickpockets in Las Ramblas. A man tried to rob my husband of his camera when he was slightly distracted helping me get the awkwardly-balanced luggage over the step and inside the door of our hotel, the the Hotel Peninsular [great inexpensive place to stay]. Fortunately, he is strong, and he kept his hold of the camera case, which has strong handle.

From Barcelona Beach apartment - travelling around the city I stayed at a great apartment overlooking the beach at Barceloneta. It was in a GREAT location for the beaches, and just outside the front door were 3 bus stops for buses to take me around the city. They couldn't have been closer! Barcelona has a great & cheap transportation network. There is the T10 card which gives you 10 journeys for just 7.60€ (each lasting up to 1 & quarter hours and being able to interchange from bus to metro to tram to train for that same journey ticket!). All the transport is very simple to use and self explanatory. you buy the T10 at the metro/tram stations or in Tabacs (shops for cigarettes). You cannot buy a T10 on a bus. So make a visit to Barcelona and enjoy the cheap travel to take you all around the city!
