We were placed in this hotel due to an overbooking where we had booked. I was so glad! I couldn't fault the hotel for anything. Lovely clean rooms, friendly courteous staff. Well looked after. Food was fantastic, far too much of it, bars not exhorbitant priced. I am booking again to stay here, ideal location. 10/15 minutes walk from the beach, and about the same to the many lovely bars and restaurants. Definitely recomeded.

We were delighted with the room. Clean, comfortable and quiet (apart from inconsiderate holiday makers next door to us - but the hotel cannot be held responsible for them!). Cleaned by courteous staff daily.

Dining room: Good variety of food for breakfast - fruits, cheeses and hams, cooked eggs bacon mushrooms beans etc and a special service where freshly cooked eggs and bacon were prepared for you whilst you waited. Toast, jams, pastries, hot and cold drinks and cereals.

Evening meal - Fruits, soups, bread, salads, fish, meats, pasta, rice and potatoes. Pizza, freshly prepared food each night whilst you wait, grilled chops or fish for example. Sweet dishes and ice creams. A waiter sevice for alcoholic beverages.

Super staff in the dining room. Courteous staff on reception. Entertainments in the evening. A minus side - but common to many Tenerife hotels - the swimming pool water was freezing!

The hotel was situated opposite a free car park - handy if you hire a car, and behind that was the golf course. A few restaurants nearby and a short walk to the town.

Tenerife has many interesting features and it is worth getting out and about. We saw a lot of the island during the week. If we go back there we would not hesitate to stay again at the Oro Negro hotel.

This will be our second visit to this hotel. Food is very good with plenty of choice. Swimming pool great with lifeguard on duty. Childrens pool has no lifguard but is not very deep. Rooms are excellent. Entertainment everyday for adults and children. Would recommend this hotel.

Top Local Tips for Arona

walk good walk from Los Christianos to Playa Fanabe with lots of cafes to stop off along the way. Also takes youpast the Bennetton sale shops

Don't stay in Playa - get out and enjoy the rest of the island too! Playa is good for some of the holiday but there is much to see in Tenerife. Hire a car if you aren't nervous about driving on the wrong side of the road (UK drivers) and can stomach the hairpin bends in the mountains. See Mount Tiede. Masca is a beautiful place to visit. Bajamar has terrific waves crashing on the shore. Not so keen on Santa Cruz I'm afraid. Loro Parque is very well presented with the best in shows if you like dolphins, whales, sealions and parrots. La Gomera island is near by and a short 45 minute journey by ferry and an organised bus trip is a good way to see it in a day. Get out and see the island - it is worth the effort!

beware the ticket touts! these people are everywhere and a terrible nuisance they will not take a no thankyou as their que to back off and have had them following us which we detest. our advice is don't even talk to them not one word just keep on walking
