We had a two week stay at the Bitacora from the 28th July. The hotel was immaculately clean, as were the rooms although they could do with updating. The sun bed farce was comical and provided us with entertainment every morning!! We only used the pool on return from the beach so it didn't bother us!
The food was acceptable but in the second week became boring and not so well cooked!! Also it was all over the place getting meat from one place veg from other etc etc kid's meals from yet somewhere else. The waiters/waitresses couldn't wait to clear your plates as soon as you put something down they tried to take it away, finished or not!!!!
Getting back to the pool, it's a wonder that someone has not been hurt or worse as there is a total lack of supervision! One lifeguard whose sole duty seemed to be controlling the water slide queue. Although signs forbid inflatable's diving etc. these were in abundance causing lots of problems for young children in the pool. Also so many sun beds directly at the pool edge!
Be wary if you want a quiet hotel! As this one is definitely not. All in all, a good holiday, but would not return to the Bitacora a 4* it is not! Much prefer the Siesta (opposite) which definitely is a 4* still... Nothing ventured nothing gained!

What a fantastic hotel. It has got to be the best hotel we've ever stayed at and we go on holiday 2 or 3 times a year. Great food, friendly staff, comfortable rooms and the best holiday ever. We love the Bitacora and Tenerife so much that we're going twice this year!

A really caring and professional hotel. Great size bedrooms and plenty of spare umbrellas and chairs in the poolside area. The pool side also has space that you do not feel at all crowded.

We recommend this hotel fully. Well done

Have been to Bitacora twice and have enjoyed every minute of it. The food & menu was top class, and the staff at reception and in the dining room was all pleasant & helpful, in fact it had all the makings of a great holiday. My wife & I will be back this year again.

We stayed in this hotel last October 05.We ended up staying in this hotel by chance after having asked to be moved from the hotel we initially arrived at. My 14 year old son and his 15 year old friend accompanied us. We had a truly enjoyable experience. The food was excellent with an extensive varied menu. The facilities, staff, entertainment and cleanliness were second to none. We cannot wait to return again later on this year.

This is one of the very best hotels we have ever stayed in after travelling abroad to different countries now for over 40 years. The service, cleanliness, but above all, the superb food cannot be equalled. Will definitely return.

Top Local Tips for Arona

Tired of the buffet? Try some of the restaurants in the Safari complex between the hotel and the beach. There is a Japanese theme restaurant there called "Teppanyaki" that has three kitchens -- Chinese, Thai, and Japanese -- which serves some very good food. We were surprised and wished we'd discovered it sooner. Also, if you have kids, there was an excellent mini-golf facility with two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course just down the road from the Safari complex

Hire a car and Travel round the island Don't just stay in Playa de las Americas! There's so much to see in a week!

Jungle Park, Island Tour Jungle Park was wonderful, with all the birds. The Island trip & Teide @ €23 was great value. Agua Park was a rip-off. Many places offering sea excursions to see dolphins etc. Difficult to choose. Watch out for the bicycles, scooters and wheel-chairs. They are a traffic hazzard to pedestrians!!
