Great Hotel - Would go back tommorow

from Karlos69uk
My and my wife stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks commencing 1st September.

Upon arrival you are greeted by a fantastic looking building and the most welcoming of reception staff.

We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a premium room, which was not a let down. The room was large with a great view and even had room for two sunloungers on the balcony. Bathrooms are again a good size with double sinks and a large shower. The rooms have a very good air-con system. The only small let down in the rooms are the slightly bulky looking TV's, shame a new hotel did not invest a little more in more modern versions.

The pools and grounds are spotless, not to much fighting for sunloungers and the hotel provides towels each day for the pool area. The pool area was lacking atmoshere at times with people keeping themselves to themselves.

Now the much debated food.... We stayed HB so had buffet breakfast and dinner. I'm lucky enough to travel around with work so have stayed in many top hotels. I have yet to visit a 5* hotel that offers a better selection of food for breakfast/dinner, all tastes are catered for with most nights offering a theamed selection.

One tip for HB visitors to this hotel, don't just put drinks onto your bill during your stay. If you don't mind a walk (100mtrs!) to the nearest shop, do it as it will save you alot of money. I belive it was 2.50 euro for a 500ml bottle of water in the hotel or 45c for a 1.5l bottle up the road. If anything it will give you extra cash to enjoy an extra drink at the bar.

The surrounding area is very quiet with about 5 bars none of which of great description, if your want to catch a sporting event these are the places to go.

Hope the above is of use.

5* hotel, 3* service

from LizMill
We have just arrived back from this hotel, we went for two weeks, fully inclusive.

We had read the previous reviews and our travel agent would not allow us to change or cancel this booking wihtout a huge charge, so we had No Choice! but to go...

The hotel isself, really is a 5* hotel, it's immaculate clean modern, beautiful views... but...

The service and the food belong in a 2*+ hotel! We had to battle with the staff, apprently all inclusive could only have certain selection of drinks but on the hotels own terms! Not what you would expect from a 5*!
We have stayed in better 3*s!

This was meant to be a holiday to remember, but now we just remeber the all the bad!

We never saw any reps in the hotel from the time we got there to the time we left, but we did call the help desk, but we couldn't get through!

One good point - reception was brill! also the resturant staff.

This was meant to be the top of the range hotel 'A La Carte' but instead found a bunch of "penny pinchers"

We went to another resturant in the hotel, the spanish one, on the menu there was a selction of tappas , after two items off the menu we were told we had to stop ordering anymore! Because your only allowed two things to share.... next was the main course... well we walked out, it was so small it could fit in the palm of your hand!
We went to the buffet to try to fill us up!

We had to ask for toliet rolls around 4 times, but they never forgot the chocolates, and we couldn't exactly use them!

Never eat the eggs it's a waste of time, we usally had to wait 15 mins for a fried egg! and this is A La Carte!
We obviously complianed but no feed-back,ever, the manger didn't want to know!

Only A LA Carte because it served brussal sprouts and carrots with breafast!

Do listen to the reviews, they are true! It's a 3* service and 3* food in a 5* hotel!

Disappointed!!

I like new hotels

from jarusoba
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during our short stay at Tenerife. I've read bad reviews about this hotel in this site, namely the isolated location and unfinished amenities. Well, we have a car so being isolated is no problem. We never use the pool, jacuzzi, or gym so that is no problem either. I like the big rooms with modern look. I like the free internet booths and wifi. I like the restaurant. Initially, we didn't like the fact that we had to book half-board because we don't like to be forced to eat at one particular location. However, we found that the restaurant there is not bad at all. They have different food every day. Way better than the comparable resorts in the Carribean...
We stayed at Tenerife for another night during the same trip at the Botanico. We found that Roca Nivaria was way better.

Fantastic and Relaxing

from LONGHURSTFAMILY
We have come back today from the Hotel Roca Nivaria. It was the most relaxing holiday that we have ever had. The rooms were air conditioned, with blackout curtains and sound proofing, along with being very spacious and all rooms have a sea view.
All of the staff, from front desk to waiters and cleaning staff were all very polite and helpful. The food in the half board restaurant was very good, with a huge choice of dishes both breakfast and dinner. There are 2 superb swimming pools which always seemed to be empty, with plenty of sun beds. No need to take any towels as both bath and beach towels are supplied. The evening entertainment was very good when the hotel entertainment team were putting on a show. Outside entertainment was ok. The late night bar terrace had a live band every night and was very good. The tennis courts were very good even though they had the sun on them all day. It was a fairly quiet hotel so our children got a little bit bored but enjoyed it all the same. The surrounding area was very poor with no beach and the night life outside of the hotel was very british (i.e football pubs!). There is a coach that runs between Roca Nivaria and its sister hotle Jardin in Adeje which is free of charge.

Even though the area was not very good the hotel is so relaxing that you can stay there and not feel the need to go out of the complex.

Great Place

from jimbobphysics
The hotel was great even though the spa was no yet opened and we were told it would be. The staff was really helpfull but the best was the animation team. The hotel was a bit far from the night life so if it wasn't for them the holiday would have been dull. Thanx to Jerome, Bart, and the rest of the team for the great time and shows (really good). We had a meeting with the manager of the place, Javier, and it was a bit of a shock the contrast of the staff and him, he was unhelpfull and arrogant! But that was just for 30 mins so not to worry. If you go there you'll have a great time and the place is very clean and well looked after, nice food, great staff, loads to do (iof you like sports or to relax)
REAL 5*, GREAT PLACE, GO THERE.

Very disappointed!

from griffinHome
My wife and I have recently returned from spending 11 nights at this hotel and we were very disappointed with the experience. Whilst cosmetically the hotel is fine, everything else is downhill from there on in.

Firstly there was the noise from ongoing work around the pool which lasted for in excess of 4 days - we made a complaint to the duty manager who in all honesty was little better than useless and I had to send an email to their head office before I could get anybody in the hotel interested in our complaint.

Secondly the location of the hotel - well if you concentrate on the view of the Atlantic then you will think that everything is fine but the surrounding area, ocean aside, is disgustingly unacceptable. Poor cleanliness and full of cheap bars and restaurants is the order of the day and hardly the place for locating a '5'* hotel.

And on it goes - enteratinment, decidedly average, - service in the bars, just about acceptable, - general ambiance of the hotel, poor - rooms, ok if you like cold and impersonal, - food, below average, and so on...................................

Will we go back - no. Why - because there are plenty of hotels in the Canary Islands that really are 5* and worth the money - the Roca Nivaria is definitely not.

terrible

from robertbr
I have just come from my holidays at Roca nivaria, I was tempted to go there as the prices were reasonable and it was a new Hotel, but they were my worse holidays ever.
First of all I find the place asolated, there is nothing around it, except for 2 60's app. towers just in fron of the reception, and a cheap chinesse restaurant. The recption area is ok but the style is like a mix of cheap things without any sign of elegance, but it is solved with a very efficient reception staff, very friendly and polite(migel, karine, alfredo).
the room is quite big but not charming, the bathroom is modern, but not very clean the first day.
I had to suffer during my holidays the horrible noise comming from some woks in the whirpool wich ruined my relax at the pool, and although I spoke with a manager (javier), very arrogant and not helpfull, they didin'thelp us at all.
The food is like a 3 star hotel, we were in half board and breakfasts were always the same and most of the days the food was cold.
we were told that the spa was finished, but it wasn¡t., so as you can see i will never ever in my life will come back to that place, wich i consider a 3 star hotel.

Excellent Accomodation

from A TripAdvisor Member
Still here............ Large rooms are very clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, we do not have shabby furniture, although I think we may have been fortunate in this. Large bathrooms which are kept to a high standard.Terrace we had was huge.

Pool areas are kept spotlessly clean and have stunning views of the sea. Yes tiles can be slippery when wet, but then again most are, just tred carefully.

We have found the staff to be very friendly and attentive, even the guys in the animation team.

However.......... location terrible, hotel entertainment terrible, price of drinks shocking, i.e. a small bottle of water from the supermarket is 30 cents to buy the same from the hotel 2 euros 50!. Food is certainly not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel i.e. beef curry looked like it was the previous nights beef stew with some curry powder sprinkled over it.
The hotel is quiet, which is what we like, however there does seem to be a severe lack in atmosphere.

Why are we writing this while still on holiday. because if |I dont do it now it is unlikely that I will do it when I return to my comfortable bed, yes I forgot to say the beds are very hard.

Commodity hotel and little charm less

from A TripAdvisor Member
There are certainly some conflicting reviews regarding this hotel, but we decided
to take advantage of the cheaper prices offered at this hotel compared with other
so called "five star" hotels in this location.

We arrived in Playa Paraiso and immediately the contrast between the area and the
hotel is very marked. You won't want to spend time exploring Playa Paraiso
apart from the super market close by. The area is very run down and ugly.

The hotel has just been built and is very large. The reception area feels a bit like
the tradesmans entrance compared to other five star hotels, but once you pass
the security doors and enter the main complex it gets better.

The hotel has an uninterrupted view over the ocean that makes a vastly different atmosphere from the other side of the hotel looking back over the Playa Paraiso.

The rooms are well appointed and clean with the latest modern bathroom and furnishings, although as another reviewer noted you may need the assistance of a telescope and a chiropractor to watch the TV.

The staff were generally helpful and smiling. The restaurants let this hotel down somewhat, the choice of food at the buffet is rather limited and repetitive. The quality of the buffet was just ok. For a change we thought to try the in house Italian restaurant. We were presented with an interesting menu with prices to match. However on receiving the dishes it quickly became clear that the culinery expertise of the chef was well below that of good Italian cooking. We discussed this with another guest couple we met thinking perhaps we had too high expectations, but their experience confirmed our own.

The swimming pool is located next to the pool restaurant and provides a nice break from the ubiquitous areas of concrete . There isn't much protection from the sun unless you are lucky enough to get a deck chair early in the morning next to a tree which are not that mature yet but there are plenty of sun umbrellas.

I rate this hotel as more 4 star than five. It can tick the boxes to say it has the needed facilities but unfortunately the quality of them isn’t really up to “luxury” standard which a five star hotel should be proud of. It somehow also lacks personality.

We would not return, feeling the experience was just a little mediocre.
