Top Local Tips for Bratislava

Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra We happened to be in Bratislava on the night when the Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra (about 150 piece orchestra) was giving a concert in their concert hall in Old Town. The amazing thing was that the cost was only $8.50 per person and we sat in about the 10th row in a beautiful 1920's auditorium. The place was full of local Slovakians dressed formally and the 2-hour concert was fabulous. This was the cheapest highest quality concert I've ever attended. I purchased the tickets to the concert at the concert hall, just a few hours before the concert and they still had a great seats.

Buses service is good Use buses rather than taxis as there are cheap and frequent. Very easy to get into town on number 61 from airport changing to 93 to stop near St Martin's Cathedral in historic centre. Remember to get your buses tickets in advance (sold according to time journey will take e.g. 30 minutes) and to frank them in 'marking machine' when getting on bus. Fines for not doing so can be hefty! (£28 equivalent)
