Avoid the scams Always look purposeful when walking around Bucharest and don't get distracted into dealing with people in the streets if there's the slightest doubt that they're genuine - it's sad that these bogus scammers create doubt and even paranoia in the minds of travellers but better to be on your guard than to end up with no passport and money ! It also goes without saying to NEVER go anywhere with someone claiming to be police...after their initial success in disorientating and confusing me, I just walked off and ignored them...and remember that there's no such thing as Tourist Police in Bucharest.
