Vlad Drakulae and Corona Transsylvaniae The greatest military city of Transsylvania during the Middle Age was CORONA (Kronstadt in German, Brasso in Magyar and Brasov in Romanian). In this wonderful place was the real residence of the famous Hungarian prince Ladislaus Dragkulya of Hunyadi-Corvin dynasty, so-called "Vlad Drakula Tzepess" (Impaler). From this very spot he defeated the Turkish and the Tartar invaders. His great army was formed by European crusaders from German lands, Italy and Spain, Polish and Czek soldiers, but prevailing the Maguars, the Saxons of Transsylvania and the Szeklers. The Bastions of Corona were built by Vlad Drakula himself between 1444-1500. He also was a great and talented architector...In 1477 he finished the Black Church of "St.Mary", the largest church in Eastern Europe until 1600. His famous letter "D" is inscripted on a stone block outside the church. From Corona Vlad Drakula controlled the great South gorge of Bran towards the Turks and the Eastern gorge of Oituz towards the Tartars.
