Top Local Tips for Vila Do Conde

a great grilled Frango at the rua com. antonio fernandes da costa you will find the Churrasqueira do ave.go to the basement to enjoy the restaurant's grilled delights. the prices are affordable. try the grilled chicken which was wonderfull or any of the daily menus.

Vila do Conde Get off the metro at Vila do Conde and follow the aqueduct up to the Santa Clara convent, its a lovely walk at sunset. Also if you have limited budget make sure you tell your waiter that you do not want entradas which are breads and tapas type things which they bring to your table and appear to be complimentary but are not. Had excelllent lamb chops at Le Villager restaurantand very nice service. The weekly Thursday market was a bit disappointing, alot of shouting and a lot of stalls selling very similar stuff hence the shout wars, not much food for sale, mostly clothes shoes and dvds

couvert don't be embarrassed to refuse the little morsels that are brought out with the bread, these are cover charged per person and can add to your bill as well as spoil your main meal if you are not a big eater. initially we accepted these but noticed that many locals didn't take them and just waited for their mains. these little tapa plates are like russian roulette or if you are british 'revels routlette' on one occasion we got fish paste, mussels, and pimientos padrones, not good if you are intolerent to shellfish, hate fish paste and a big wimp when it comes to chilli! other occasions were a gem with baccalau and shees cheese and sundried tomatoes - you just don't know!
