I would like to thank all staff, especially Carolina for being very helpful and friendly during our stay over the last week. The hotel was lovely and everyone made us feel at home, the food was excellent – compliments to the chef. Also thanks for the help with information on walks in the area. We will definitely be coming to stay again in the future.

Top Local Tips for Santo Antonio Da Serra

Wine If you are unfamiliar with Portuguese wines, make sure that the bottle brought by the waiter is the one you ordered. We are familiar with some Portuguese wines but wanted to try a different one to see if we were missing out. The waiter brought out a bottle with the name we ordered but when the bill arrived it turned out to be the most expensive version on the menu rather than the one we actually ordered. We had an unpleasant discussion with the manager who insisted we paid for the one we drank and not the one we ordered. We felt we had been tricked. We left a 4 eurocent tip as the only way to express our annoyance. Next time we'll hold on to a menu to confirm the correct bottle of wine when we are trying something new. We told the manager of our accommodation of our experience and since they take about 50 people to the restaurant every week this could prove costly for the restaurant concerned.

Levada walks fun Walks and sightseeing are great fun. The topography is very steep in Madeira and the driving is not for the faint hearted.
