Porto Hills Porto is built on very steep hillsides leading to the River Douro. The streets leading down to the river are steep and the majority of the roads and some of the pavements are cobbled and uneven. The shiny surfaces become slippery when wet, so use the concrete parts of the roads or pavements. There is public and tourist transport, but this doesn't always take you exactly where you need to be, so make sure that you wear comfortable shoes and are prepared to walk up and down slopes. The funnicular is a great way of getting up and down the hill, but unless you want to make your return journey within one hour, only buy one fare. Keep the ticket as this can be reused and reduces the cost of your next journey.

Arriving and departing from Porto Into town you have the metro, which takes about 20 minutes straight from the Airport, you just buy a ticket "Andante" with 1 trip "Títulos de viagem". From the airport it's 4 zones, after using this trip just change the ticket's zoning into 2 zones and buy (load it) 10 trips. you get another one for free. You'll be able to travel all around town in buses and metro with these trips. Each trip lasts one hour!
