Rent a car In my opinion, the best way to visit the island of Sao Miguel is to rent a car, because, with a car, you can visit everything you want at your rythm and as you want.

Whale watching Absolute must! We saw Sperm Whales, Pilot nosed dolphins and common dolphins - it is an amazing experience. We went with Futurismo on the marina for 2 trips and were not disappointed. Its 47 Euros for 3 hours including a briefing session at the beginning.

Renting in car in the Azors Many guide books will discourage travelers from renting a car in the Azores. I spend a week in Ponta Delgada in February 2008 and found just the opposite. Car rentals were very inexpensive, US $34 a pay with unlimited milage and insurance. Roads were well maintained and several were multi-lane divided. Traffice, outside the cities, was light and the views spectacular. Do rent a car and get out and see the lvoely island!
