Loved this hotel. Looking out the enormous windows you can only see the sea.....you could be on a cruise ship.

Top Local Tips for Funchal

Golf There are two courses on the island. a 27 hole course close to the airport that is used on the PGA European tour and Palheiro golf (18 holes) which has probably the better views. Palheiro golf has a 6 hole academy course for 9 euros...My advice is dont bother with it. 4 of the six ho;es are simple chips to small raised greens, 1 is a true par 3 uphill to a very small green. The last hole is its only saving grace. It is a stunning genuine par 4 with the second shot downhill over water. Palheiro golf is also quite hard to find unless you come off the main motorway type road.

tips for a) good beef and b) fishrestaurant a) So Espeto, 7 km in the west from funchal, nearby Hotel Orca Praia at the coast road, very good quality beef at the skewer, lot of residents and b) Doca do Cavacos, at the rocks in the sea in the hotelquarter of funchal. Very good quality, but you have to reserve the table, lots of people, Telefon: 00351-291762057. Menue for two with Wine and Brandy for less than 70 €.
