Just spent 2 weeks in Funchal. Hotel very clean, staff courteous and helpful. Breakfast basic but plentiful and served in pleasant surroundings. Although hotel in back street and a bit noisy at night but hold on,,, right in the centre if city, not in the far away hotel zone".
We found the location so very important and handy for all types of eateries from expensive to super supermarkets. All shopping was also on doorstep as was buses. (Once you got used to them). A bus map very handy from Amazon. All in all this hotel to us was wonderful. Perhaps not the most scenic, but go to the roof top pool, and further up to the observation deck and the view is marvellous, even to cruise ship spotting in the harbour...
This hotel represents great value for money, and its town centre location tops it all. EXCELLENT.........

Top Local Tips for Funchal

Restaurante Santo Antonio in Estreito de Camara de Lobos Recomended by some friends some years ago, this old restaurant it´s still the best in Madeira to eat their special meat, it´s always crowed because it´s so good, it´s not a turistic restaurant, it´s the palce where the locals go. We strongly recomend it, it´s 20 m by taxi but you will like it.
