Nice Hotel, Great Staff!

Hotel Marques de Pombal is located on the busiest Avenida of Lisbon. The hotel has double windows so you won't be bothered by traffic noise. The hotel is located next to the undergroundstation with the same name as the hotel. It's an easy walk to the Rossio. You can go almost anywhere walking or by tram, bus or metro. Taxis are not expensive.

We were really early checking into the hotel due to our airplane. We didn't expect to be able to get the keys to our room yet. So we were pleasantly surprised when we got the keys straight away. The receptionist even supplied us with a map of the city. She was very friendly and pointed out all kinds of places on the map.

The rooms are nice,clean, airconditioned and although the room isn't very big, it has everything you need. Of course there is a tv, but there's also a stereo set (cd, radio, cassette). The breakfast buffet is good and offers several kinds of bread, cereals, sausages, cheese, yoghurt, fruits, eggs, coffee, tea, milk, fruitjuices, mineral water etc. etc. We tried out the restaurant the first evening of our stay. The staff there is very nice and the food is good (though not cheap!). There are many simple, but good and cheap restaurants in the neighbourhood. If you want to have dinner at more exclusive places.... that's also possible. We had a great stay at this very friendly hotel in this nice city! We are definetely going to repeat this in the future.

Stravaganza - Yummy Italian Food a 'Must Eat'!!! Great and Friendly Service with good recommendations from the many yummy looking choices. We chose delicious Pasta which was delicious and a decent size portion. Then we had the applle pizza - yes you did read right. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED it but make sure you share one as its far too much for one!!!You can find it on Rua Do Gremio Lusitano, 18 in the Barrio Alta Part of the CIty - ENJOY

Getting around Not ideal if you are infirm or just not good on your feet. The streets of Lisbon are steep in places and are made up of smal pieces (2 inches square) of white marble that has become quite polished and slippery in places. If it rains the place must be like a skating rink.

Baixa-Chiado There are a lot of shh's in Portuguese and so Biaxa-Chiado becomes Baisha - Shiado
