Top Local Tips for Lisbon

Bus Tours Lisbon is one of the few cities where i would actually reccomend an open top bus tour as the area is both quite hilly and vast at the same time, so you will get tired a lot more easily walking around than elsewhere. Open top buses leave near the seafront at the centre from Parca do Comercio (where the large archway is) and cover quite a large area that would be difficult to see on foot.

Carris Card Only 3.50 euro per day, this card is purchased from the metro station at the machine. It covers you for the metro which we found the easiest way to get around and felt very safe even at midnight. It also covers trams and buses, which run very frequently so you can jump on and off and see all the fantastic sights of Lisbon. Fantastic transport system in Lisbon and everything runs on time!

How to get lost in Lisbon!!! I had five maps and managed to get lost for hours in the city. The cross streets are poorly designated and marked so it is difficult to locate one's position on a map. The pervasive lack of English just added to my confusion. Everyone whom we asked for directions was very helpful BUT I do not speak Portugese!
