Top Local Tips for Lisbon

taxis If you are going anywhere, try to find it on the map (or google maps) first. Taxi drivers often have no idea where places are - on three occasions, we were given recommendations for a restaurant or bar and the taxi driver had no idea where the street was.

Metro Tickets As you need to use the metro for each journey from this hotel get a day long ticket- I can't remember what they called it but it cost €3.85 per adult for unlimited travel all day long and is great value.

Sigtseeing and other tips 1. See Lisbon on a walking tour (insidelisbon.com) - great value and great experience. 2.Be careful of pickpockets - everywhere 3. Don't get ripped off by taxi drivers - make sure the meter is activated when you get in the cab. 4. Check you bills in restaurants, hotels and bars carefully before you part with your money. 5. Portugal is relatively cheap to eat / drink and get around - so if you find that any of this seems to be more expensive than elsewhere in Europe (eg France, Italy, Spain, Germany, UK) then you are probably being overcharged!!
